I really, highly doubt any fan would've said that. Pretty sad grasp of talent if they did. Even sadder that you would retain it for five years to randomly bring it up again.
Now if you're trying to divert attention from the fact that both Seguin and Hamilton appear to be on track for long, productive careers as impact players, that ain't gonna work either. Leafs blew that one. Plain and simple. With those two anchoring the forwards and defense for 10 years, Leaf fans would be having a whole different conversation right now. - SmileandWave
Ah well, what are you gonna do, right? Blowing that set the stage for Shanny, Babcock, Rielly, Marner, etc. Seguin and Hamilton are yesterday's troll. |

Which team is it that has Roberts in their employ?
I wish the Leafs would bring him in. If Horton were ever to make a comeback, he should train with Roberts. - twiztedmike
Is Gary Roberts now Jesus? I doubt even Roberts can fix degenerated bones. In the spine of all places too. |

No, but if Jesus had trained with Gary Roberts before he was crucified, he would have had a much faster recovery. Bread and wine? (frank) that poop! Chia seeds and goat's milk! |

Saad doesn't score as much. Kessel has been PPG with Bozak.
Saad is not a top liner. Kessel is.
Saad's career high is 30 points less than Kessel's with a better centre. - RogerRoeper
Saad's, what, 21 or 22? Kessel's 27 or 28? You have no idea what Saad will end up being or how many points he will produce. No one even compared the two, except you.

while its true we shouldn't just give people away a lot of the time the wrong move is not make a move... if we do actually start the season having done nothing i think that is the wrong move - DarcyTucker16
There's a very small chance we go into next season with the same lineup. I have a gut feeling at least one thing will happen in the next few days. If not, I'll continue to remain patient and trust in the new hierarchy. |

Kessel probably wont be traded until tomorrow because of the bonus.
4 mil cash is a lot, and a lot of teams work on a cash budget outside of the cap.
Kessel becomes a lot easier to move once that bonus is paid I would think. - Leafs43
That $4 million is precisely why I doubt we retain any salary in a Kessel deal......at least not $2 million of it. |

Is Gary Roberts now Jesus? I doubt even Roberts can fix degenerated bones. In the spine of all places too. - KesselRules
He had a very similar issue.
From Wiki:
Healthy for most of the 1993–94 season, Roberts led the Flames with 41 goals. He missed the final two weeks due to damage to nerves in his neck, an injury he had experienced previously in his career. The injury worsened in the lockout-shortened 1994–95 season as he appeared in only eight games. Degeneration of the nerves in his neck left Roberts unable to lift a 2 pounds (0.91 kg) dumbbell above his shoulder with his left arm.
The injury was considered career threatening and required two surgeries, in March and October 1995, to repair. After missing the first half of the 1995–96 season, Roberts made his return on January 10, 1996, against the Hartford Whalers. The fans greeted him with a standing ovation and he responded by scoring a goal and throwing several bodychecks in the game. Although he played only 35 games, Roberts scored 22 goals and had 42 points. His return and performance earned him the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy for perseverance and dedication to the game. The problems with his neck failed to abate however, and on June 17, 1996, Roberts elected to retire from the NHL at the age of 30.
Carolina and Toronto
Several months after retiring, Roberts was put in touch with Dr. Michael Leahy, a chiropractor from Colorado, whose "active release technique" of physiotherapy led to an immediate improvement in his mobility. Determined to try and resume his career, Roberts then spent most of the next year with a physical therapist learning a new training regimen. After sitting out the entire 1996–97 season, Roberts announced his return to the NHL. He remained a member of the Flames, but the team agreed to trade him to an Eastern team to reduce strain due to travel.
In his return season of 1997–98, Roberts recorded 49 points in 61 games. He dropped to 42 points in 1998–99, but finished fifth in team scoring to help Carolina win a Southeast Division championship. He scored his first playoff goal in five years in Carolina's first round series against the Boston Bruins, though the Hurricanes ultimately lost the series in six games. Roberts scored 53 points in 1999–2000 before leaving Carolina as a free agent
Returning to Canada, Roberts signed a three-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs worth $8 million |

Yeah, didn't really mean it as a troll. More of a factual statement of what could've been for you guys...and a reaction to Leaf head cheerleader #1 and his incessant belief that everything the Leafs have done and will ever do is righteous and golden. |

Why should they make knee jerk trades right now?
For fun? - Arctic_AARDVARK
The Kessel and Phaneuf trades are, for tight now, the 2 most important elements of getting this rebuild off the ground and they cannot by any means be rushed. Plain and simple. |

My understanding is it's a bone/disk issue not a nerve one (could be wrong). Even if it's the same issue wouldn't it be better for him to rehab with Dr. Michael Leahy anyway. |
