Hickey is about to get a 3 year @ 2.16 cap hit. Does that seem comparable to something Del Zotto should be looking at.
- J35Bacher

No.. primarily because Hickey has 48 points in 202 NHL games to Del Zotto's 32 points in 64 games for the Flyers alone.

Del Zotto is looking at a 1 year 3 mill (at lowest) to a multi year around 4 mil. This is my opinion anyway.

If I were his agent my argument would be that the Flyers last contract was a chance to prove he belonged in the NHL still.. and that my client did that, and actually ended up being one of the more productive young d-men from an offensive standpoint.

Points-per-game career/last-season

Hickey: 0.24/0.27
Del Zotto: 0.41/0.50

And MDZ's got almost twice the number of NHL GP's under his belt... don't think they're comparable beyond age.

- Tomahawk

Agreed

I'm guessing the Flyers are offering something like 1 year at 2.5 or 2 at 6.5
and MDZ's agent is countering with 1 year at 3.5 or 2 at 8.5.

Not losing sleep over it, I think they meet somewhere in the middle on a 2 year deal.

Does anyone know how the Coyotes can "choose" to give us their 2016 4th round pick when they already gave it to the Rangers?

It doesn't need to be their 4th rounder. It just needs to be a 4th rounder. If they can acquire one before the draft next year, they can choose to give it to the Flyers. Otherwise, it's a 3rd in 2017.

I'd rank the Flyers prospects as:
1. Provorov
2. Sanheim
3. Morin
4. Laughton
5. Ghostisbehere
6. Konecny
7. Aube-Kubel
8. Cousins
9. Hagg
10. Stolarz

And, BTW, this list is light years ahead in quality of where it was just 2 years ago!

MDZ will want at least $3m. Points do matter in contract negotiations.

I think it's great Hickey has made himself a solid NHL career after looking like being another Cam Barker-style bust.

Because you said he as many bad seasons as good ones.
- Feanor

Yeah, well 7 isn't half of 13, so I don't see how I have to be so literal and you do not.

What is a fact is Schultz is 32 and the two seasons he spent with Edmonton (technically 3 seasons, depending on who you ask) weren't very good outings. His play is what got him traded out of Minnesota.

Were I Hextall, my argument would be, "That's great. How does he like playing in the NHL? A lot? Well, then here's a great idea: he signs at the rate that we feel is fair, or he doesn't get to do so."

lets hope they don't so the Flyers can take their 3rd in 2017. Jesus 2017......I remember it being 1999 turning to 2000 like it was yesterday.

Yup, I'm thinking it'll be 2yrs @ 7.5M (3.75/yr). I think that's a pretty good deal for both sides.

2 years, 3.5m AAV would be OK by me. Then when his contract finishes it will also be the end of Ghost's ELC and we can just keep whichever offensive dman is better.

Then I would counter with.. then I guess we will see what the arbitrator has to say...

Ultimately, I dont think the Flyers will like that option...

Not when the comment was that one of the reasons why Gagner isn't considered a good defensive forward, is because he lacks size. At 5'11" 200 lbs, size is not the problem there.
- MJL

Giroux is also listed as 5'11", so I agree.

Richards speculation:

Edit: Interesting quote:

"He came right over to me," Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli confirmed to ESPN.com. "He pulled me aside and said, 'Hey, Pete, this is going to come out. I had no idea. This is important you know so that talks [don't go any] further.'"

Does anyone know the specific time today is the buyout deadline? Is it a 300PM deadline like the TDL or up until 1159 PM this evening. Just curious about whether we keep Gagner or not.

Sustr resigning for 2 yrs 2.9 mil total.

Why does our 3rd pairing pylon make 2.5x as much as him on deal that was signed years ago? And some still consider it a good deal

I really don't want to see more than 3M AAV committed to MDZ.
1 year @3M would be nice
2 years @ 5.5-6.5 I could stomach

outside that, I let someone offer sheet him

Franson nearly went to arbitration last season, but they avoided it and he signed a one year 3.3 million dollar contract..
