I like that Tanner doesn't like the trade: http://www.hockeybuzz.com...agner-to-Flyers/200/69595

Of course he has a hard on for Gagner which everyone makes fun of.

It's a hard decision to keep him or buy him out. I would lean toward keeping him mainly due to the only 1 year remaining on a modest contract. We all know they aren't contenders next year. No need to save a little space to bring in a big UFA in my opinion. Of course for all I/we know Lord Hexy has another trade up his sleeve. In the end it wouldn't be crushing to see him bought out but without another trade I see no reason in doing so. His defensive shortcomings are a concern but he brings what we were looking for- offencive talent. Play him at LW and stick him on every line I preseason to find a fit and see how he does, couldn't be worse then RJ or Vinny.

He can play left... he's not Vinny after all.
- Tomahawk

You're right, he's not Vinny! Lecavalier has a good chance at going in the Hall of Fame, has scored over 50 goals in a season, 400 + goals total, won the Rocket Richard trophy, and a Stanley Cup. Gagner, not so much.

I thought perhaps Winning succumbed to a fatal attack of Tourette's.

What's your gut say? Any legs to the whole buyout thing with Ganger?
- Giroux_Is_God

Well, when Hextall was asked if Gagner would be staying, he did not say even a qualified yes (ala "We like Sam and we think he can help our team, but a lot of things can happen"). His answer was basically that he didn't know right now.

When asked if Gagner was a candidate for a buyout, Hextall gave the answer that he had internal meetings planned on Monday and wasn't sure yet what the team would be doing.

Asked to give a percentage on his certainty that the team would be keeping Gagner, Hextall completely deflected it and refused to answer. He reiterated the above point that they have to have meetings first and then added that the team still needs to open more cap space.

All those things suggest that Gagner will never wear a Flyers uniform.

Is Tuesday the last day he can be bought out?

Seeing that Arizona probably wants Prongers cap hit to reach cap floor and doesnt need to hide it behind LTIR. Can Pronger finally retire and put an end to this ordeal?

Bill,

Buying out Gagner doesn't make sense to me. If that is their intention, why not just trade Pronger for a conditional pick and find somewhere else to send Grossmann without taking a contract back?

Unless Vinny comes with a time machine set to 2004, what the hell is the point of talking about the player he USED to be?

Think Brad Richards makes it into the HOF before Vinny? Probably MSL too.

Beggars can't be choosers. coming away with a pick and a minimal buyout is about as good as I'd expect

Picking up a contract slot that can be used for a healthy player is not insignificant, either
