What is this love for Oshie, he's really not that good & up for a new contract soon.
- ob18

I talked about dealing for Shattenkirk and taking Oshie, because rumor was St Louis wanted him out. My intent was to then flip Oshie for picks either at or before the TDL.

no, but I still think that is what he going to do. It is a no brainer for him.

There's pride and anger dumped into the situation...what a mess.

TJ Oshie is a very good player? Just over rated by the majority of hockey fans.

I hadnt realized that Oshie only has one 20 goal season, which was also his only 60 point season.

Yeah, he's got this repuatation as a big point producer and it's really not the case. The age and FA status worry me as much as that in terms of adding him

Probably true, but I doubt his pride and anger, or his family, or his desire to play, trumps his desire to collect the remainder of his contract while sitting in the press box. Especially since he is still getting paid a hefty amount by Tampa.

Yeah Oshie put up good numbers for North Dakota and was definitely hyped as a scorer when he was drafted 24th overall. After playing nearly 7 seasons at the NHL level it looks like he's leveled off as a top 6 guy that you can hope for 20G and 50-60 points from. Pass.

And Kessel? Really people? LOL good god no.

Considering the slow start he had last season, coupled with the injury, he had a pretty productive year. He may be close to breaking out as a point producer.

But with that being said, he isn't the player some make him out to be.

Also playing nearly 7 seasons you'd think if he was going to break out and become an All-Star or top line point producer it'd be around season 5-6.

He's getting older, he's still a decent player, but he's a role player, not a foundation piece.

Think positive thoughts, let the good work this weekend carry onwards.
Pride and anger and also the fact he is toast and needs to admit it.

Kessel is one of the top finishers in the league. I think he gets a bit more of a bad rep than is deserved. The contract and age are bigger concerns than anything with him, tho, for me

If I had already made $100 million I'd be more interested in my quality of life than $10 million dollars.

PLus he can still bank on 1.76 million from Tampa for each of the next 12 years.

We have to stop thinking of him as a guy who has a couple thousand in the bank like most of us normal schlubs. Money is no object here.

He will chose the termination because he WANTS TO PLAY HOCKEY. He isn't playing hockey here.

Add in endorsements, free stuff, investments... I'm sure he's not hurting for money. If he is then shame on him.

I'm sure it's not but he doesn't have all the coin & even if he did most who have that want even more, he's not going to walk away (or at least I don't think) from what he's owed on this deal.
