Wow really? And if he does he does who cares. Sometimes I feel people would rather have a stocked prospect pool than actually win hockey games. Get over these prospects that may or may not even see a single game in the NHL.
- buffalokb

I'm not like that with every prospect
I actually think Murray's draft last year SUCKED BALLS
I'd MUCH rather have traded Karabacek then Compher
Both were drafted at similar picks

And I wanna win
I don't need to rush it
I wanna be a CUP contender for 10years
That means developing prospects
It means sticking to a pay structure & not overpaying

Of course, not ALL of these prospects develop
But isn't that more reason not to deplete your pool

The Kane trade makes sense
He'll eventually demand 7mil, but he'll score 30g
ROR scored 18 last year

All of our forwards with top 6 potential are still here so what is the problem? I'll trade guys with bottom-6 ceilings all day long. Colarado clearly isn't stupid and wanted a better forward. According to 89 it was Bailey but we (rightly) said "no". I like compher just fine but at best he is a Dan Paille guy (and that isn't meant as a knock on him).

I think that's the point you are missing. Trading away 18 year old and picks isn't mortgaging the future because the guys we got back are only 23 and 24. Once again, other than Zadorov we didn't give up anything of ridiculous value. I loved Compher but a) you have to give to get and b) he is at best a bottom 6 guy later on because of our talent. I'll give up pieces to get very good players all day long.

Isn't this the start of what we always wanted? Big, fast, young, mean, 2-way? Is anyone going to be thinking of Joel Armia and Brendan Lemieux when we see Kane flying up and down the ice?

- Slump Buster

I kind of agree
I liked the Kane trade
Even though I liked Armia & Grigorenko, they clearly didn't play the style Murray wants
I love the Kane trade
These last two, I'm more skeptical about
Also didn't like the McNabb trade for the record, still dont

The problem is that ROR is demanding 7.5mil a year & we can't afford to pay everyone in our top6 that much
It's not complicated
When other produce like him on the score sheet,
That's what their agent will demand

And this is what some people don't get, Murray will have no currency in 3 or 4 years when we need to add at the deadline or offseason.

I'd be a lot more ok with it if I didn't think ROR was gonna screw up the salary structure
And I happen to like Compher a lot & dislike some of our other prospects a lot
Hurley, Cornel, Karabacek, Carrier... And quite a few others I'd have rather given up

We had/have first and second round picks in every draft going back/forward for 3 years. You are Darcy Regier.

Really?? How did Chicago add Vermette at the deadline? You know a guy who was pretty clutch in the finals? Teams do this ALL the time. You're overreacting just to overreact.

Huh? If we are contenders you add a piece or two at the deadline which involves picks not prospects. I.E Blackhawks, Vermette for a 1st and Timonen for a 2nd. I mean in no way am I saying Murray is perfect but for crying out loud the guy has a vision for a winning team and is assembling it anyway possible, that's how it should be.

I think as long as we don't overpay for a UFA on like a 5 or 6 year deal, we should be ok for a while

Sure, but at least the Sharks tried. Other teams were just better.
- Slump Buster

For me...
I don't see us really competing for the Cup for a few years
ROR scored 18goals last year
In another year or 2, I could see Larsson doing that & being a good two way forward for 1/3 of the cost
And we'd have (presumably) a stud in Zadorv as well
Now we have a hole to fill on defense
And potential Cap issues down the road

Lehner we have for a while though, and worse case scenario, he turns into a number one, we flip him, and plug in another goalie.
- Mentalorgasm5

I'd say "worst case scenario" is that he never turns into a "#1"
He's no sure thing dude

You're also assuming all the moves Murray is making are the right ones
What if ROR doesn't sign here?
Then we lost Zadorov for nothing!!!

Obv not,
But the lower we pick (esp in the 2nd & beyond) then less chance we have of hitting on guys that will eventually be able to contribute

We need defense BAD now
McCabe is the only LH guy we have with top4 potential
That's a big deal for me

I would say that the Sabres are in a better position than the Bruins right now.

That is only true with the first 5 picks in the first round, after that the odds are pretty even throughout the 1st round. 2nd is a crap-shoot, and 3-7 is almost a zero percent chance of hitting.

But dont take my word for it, look through the past drafts.

Ya, most likely...
But I don't think it's a sure thing
I kind of always suspected he'd wanna go UFA

Why did the AVs decide to trade him when they've been saying all along they wanted to sign him?
I wouldn't say I'm worried,
But until he is signed I'll be concerned a bit
