I like to think of it as money, and money as my soldiers.
When I send my money (soldiers) out, I always want them to come back with more, prisoners of war.
Murray's never ever come back with more!!
Perhaps some of you or most are enamored by him.
Well, i'm emphatically not.
But hey as once said..."different strokes".

The Rangers have acquired Antti Raanta from the Blackhawks for Ryan Haggerty. So Raanta is now Lundqvist's backup.

TRADES!!!!!

Why am I not surprised that the blackhawks and leafs mismanaged the draft and the assets they were trying to move?

With Darling in Chicago, they needed to move one.

I don't think this has the smell of something bigger, at least not yet.

NYR needed a back up.

Simple hockey trade IMO.

Edit: However....

Blackhawks still exploring moving Sharp and Bickell. Not sure if both go, but all signs point to Sharp being moved

I'll bite...

So Dave, what would you have rather done?

Whom would you have rather acquired via trade/draft?

Did you listen or watch the coverage?

Did you read anything written by experts?

Buffalo got all A's yesterday, and many experts have said to look out for the Buffalo Sabres and a few even said playoffs next year.

- Stripes77

Simple.
I'd love for Murray to stop with his penchant for overpaying in every deal he makes.
Not only in the future will it cost us, but it may already have.
Who is to say?
The "experts"?
My dilemma is not all of the players he is acquiring, my dilemma is the amount he has been giving up.
I would like for once to feel after a Murray deal that the opposing GM has overpaid.
Will this ever happen? I may wait forever it seems for that.
Not to mention the irritating Ottawa love affair.
Lehner is average, perhaps a shade above it.
He was taken behind the woodshed in that deal in my opinion.
I simply want the over payments to cease and desist in a sport terminology way.

That's the other part of the equation that the sword swallowers are missing. We weren't just turning change into dollar bills. We were building a team that is big, fast and plays in both ends. An emphasis was also placed on getting guys with good possession numbers. In other words, there was a plan.

The entire league aye?
I won't even bother with that one even though I would love to see proof of that, but do me a favor, humor me this.
If everyone in the entire league jumped off the bridge am I to understand you would also soon follow?
Alas, yes I see your logic.

I agree with you on the Lehner deal. I had a hard time with it, but after last night, I do see a real plan. Sometimes as a fan you do have to think Murray would know a little more about Lehner than we do. If he hadn't had the money to buy, "What he felt was the best option" he wouldn't have done it. He was quoted as saying that Lehner was ahead of Talbot and Lack, when you include, Talent/Age/Contract

I promised myself I wouldn't participate.

Great draft by Murray. Giving up Z hurts, but give to get blah blah blah. This team will finally score goals next season.

Restocked the defensive depth. Great work. Have a young core in the NHL ready to compete to let those draftees grow and develop.

Got a very young starting caliber goalie. A risk, yes, but professionals are still very high on him.

Great draft.

Outside of Green and Franson there really isnt anyone I like on D. I know people like Martin, but yesterday I was in the Pens blog, and its being reported he wants a five year deal, and at 34, I want nothing to do with that. Oduya, for me at least, would boil down to the term he wants.

You do know you need to have players on your team worth overpaying for right?

I think the Blues overpaid for Miller and Ott...I think the Wild overpaid for Moulson..

Lehner is slighty above average as you say and I can agree to that, I didn't like that trade. However nobody knows him more than Murray. So when he hits his prime (for goalies its around 27) he could absolutely be dynamite. That deal is the one I would agree with you on not liking it.

I wasn't a fan of the rumored ROR deals mostly because names like Ennis, Risto, and Reinhart were being thrown out.

As far as to what he has given to up to get these good players, you never liked Myers, Grigorenko is a borderline NHL player, and Zadorov is the one player that could sting a bit. Here's the thing though, if you want to get good players you have to give up good prospects with high ceilings. He wasn't going to get ROR for McCabe. The one player that fits the mold for a hardhat type player is Jamie McGinn. Picture a better scoring version of Foligno.

The only deal the experts have said we overpaid was the Lehner trade. In fact the ROR deal was said yes he gave up a bit but the fact he was able to do that trade after already trading the 21st pick was outstanding.
