I take the much higher 1st and one 2nd especially after reading Cullen's TSN article on where players are picked and their success in the NHL. 2nd round picks are a big crap shoot. 21st picks a smaller crap shoot.

Buddy of mine who was an assistant GM was sharing some stats with me the other day. Its shocking how bad the odds are of a player making and impact or even playing 200 games in the NHL after pick 15. Stats don't tell everything but I couldn't believe some of the stuff he was quoting on the draft.

What does it say about my day that I read through 40 pages of comments...

Gotta wonder with trading Soderberg and now sending Hamilton away for picks, it looks like Boston may be going full-on rebuild. We may see more of their players hit the road today.

I think we are just seeing some awful trades because of their cap situation. They're too stubborn to rebuild

There's talk of Lucic being out the door, but I think they might use those newly acquired picks and try to get a player they want. But new GM might be trying to make this more "his" team.

Obviously some teams are better than others but its damn near a crap shoot after the middle of the 1st round. As Detroit has shown, player development is huge and if you don't do it right all the picks in the world (unless they are top 5 or 6) won't make you a Champion.

True, but how do you keep him? I'm not positive and too busy to check but I think a lot of their players have NTC/NMC and their hands were tied. Tried to make the best move given the conditions.

I would agree, but Boston is a team that has recently lost a lot of quality players to age, injury, cap, and with teams like TB and Mon, NYI, showing the results of their rebuilds, and with Flor and Buff about 3-4 years into theirs, Toronto just starting theirs, it kind of makes sense for them.

Maybe they thought the picks in this deep draft would be worth it to stock pile prospects, or maybe it was just cap issues.

Last day at work. Moving on Monday to Phoenix, so I am of the hope that the Coyotes will move downtown and stay in the area. I already have my final paycheck, but I am helping out here to be kind to my coworkers.

Really though, I wanted to throw the computer in the street while reading.

He had nothing for me. Said he heard Marchands name being thrown around a few weeks ago but that went dead pretty quickly. If he hears anything today he will text me but doubts he will as the people he hears info from are currently in Florida lol.
