Sad part of Hamilton trade is that now we won't get the drama of Peter Chiarelli slapping his former team with an offer sheet. Damn it!!!!

Hamilton can still be lost though even now, can't he?

I just meant a player like that.. I hope Murray can still make a trade..

I guess they won't be paying Girodano $9M next year.

Sounds like Boston was trading him cause if teams offer sheeted him they wouldn't be able to match and in doing this got to choose the picks they wanted.

I would find it really funny, if someone gave an offer sheet to Hamilton for 4 1st round picks.

Don't think there is anything stopping Edm from offering him. Wouldn't that be funny.

Bruins were also offered much higher first rounders than 15th overall, which adds to strangeness of the trade.

If he wants $9M, he may have to go back there.

Dougie Hamilton for Calgary's 1st and 2 2nds for a Young, Top Pairing D-Man.....How the mighty have fallen

2nd's for the most part are pretty useless. You have an equal chance of picking a guy up in later rounds that will do just as good.

I still fail to see how these trades are comparable.
One was for a young goaltender and a decent vet presence and one was for a young top 4 potential D.

They got the same amount they were going to get if he was offer sheeted, but gets to use the picks today.

Not a great trade value wise but that's the logic behind it.

I take the much higher 1st and one 2nd especially after reading Cullen's TSN article on where players are picked and their success in the NHL. 2nd round picks are a big crap shoot. 21st picks a smaller crap shoot.

So the Boston Bruins no longer own either 1st round draft pick they got for Phil Kessel. And Toronto wants Kessel out. That trade turned into a dud.
