First off, your history refutes that

Second, we can choose those options as many times as we want.

Nope, it was a year. It may have been my Navin Johnson account....

Baptiste will most likely be in Rochester

Gionta will play 3rd line RWer.

I could see something like this

Moulson Eichel Ennis
Kane Reinhart Girgensons
Foligno Larsson Gionta
Deslauriers Legwand McCormick

- Stripes77

I know it's kind of a dumb place to show any "concern", but an upgrade over McCormick would be nice. Deslauriers was impressive to me last year, so to have a snail like McCormick out there with him and a guy with a scoring history like Legwand bugs me.

I figure Baptiste would start there too but I'd rather release or trade Gionta and let Baptiste start here. I think he could be a dynamic winger for Reinhart. I know Eberle hasn't been mentioned in trade talks for a while but I think he'd be the perfect type of player this team needs. Maybe we could swing 31st pick and McCabe for him?

good nominees. Sad that after 40 years you get 4 players worth mentioning.

There were others but Mika Noronen couldn't crack my top 4.

Gionta is the captain, he isn't getting released or traded

For Eberle you would need to give up Zadorov and that recently traded 21st pick plus IMO.

I would still like 1 top 6 RWer though

Gionta was brought in to mentor the kids. They're not going to trade him after 1 year (he also has a NTC). You need some sort of veteran leadership on the team and that's his main purpose here.

He also put together a pretty nice second half of the season, so it's not like he can't do anything out there.

I like Baptiste, don't get me wrong, but he was a 3rd round pick and will need some seasoning in the AHL before he'll be ready for the NHL.

Maybe that's what he wanted to do but didn't like the package he had to give up for it.

Just saying.

- dadeadhead

Yeah i hear ya. Knowing the true value of this deal is at least 2 years away if not more.. similar to what it woulda been to just select a player there. Or package to move up.

Im not enamored. I think a "good enough" goalie is too easy to come by.

I know I just would rather see him as a 3rd linger with Girgensons or 4th liner.

For Eberle If it costs Zadorov and 31st plus a 2nd next year I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I don't think Edmonton is trading Eberle at all.

I know he was brought in for that, but for me I was left very unimpressed with him last year. Unless he's a wing for Girgensons on a 3rd line or vetting it up on the 4th I see him as wasting ice time. He's a good leader and all but I'd much rather see Baptiste here. I get that he was drafted in the 3rd but he's honestly played like a 1st round pick in juniors and he seems like when playing with a top flight center he can bury the buck when it's delivered to him.

I like Eberle, but I think it's a lot to give up. Especially when our defensive depth isn't as great as everyone thinks. Plus Zadorov is a LHD which we seems to have a shortage of as well.
