I'm assuming #21 would've been essential to any type of deal like that

As far as Lehner goes...
I'd have rather signed a UFA & drafted a goalie
But I guess Murray liked Lehner better than any of those prospects

A drafted goalie would be many, many years away from being the starter. One of the guys we already have in the system would have a better chance at becoming one prior to one drafted this year.

As far as the UFA part, you have to get a guy to come. No guarantee you could.

Wanted to see the reaction given the timing

Why the hell would you have to give up more than the 21st pick in a deep draft for Lehner? Why would you even have to give up a first round pick for Lehner to begin with?
