Unless as Harrington stated Murray and Buffalo have something else up their sleeve they will finish no better than 3rd worst this season. Legwand taking up Reinhart's ice time and a team with not enough skilled players will flounder just like they have in the past.. Only way to save this is for Murray to package two 2nd's for a guy like Eberle or something similar to that fashion. Otherwise say hello to suffering part 3

When you trade, your HIGHEST draft pick since Turgeon, most skilled, pure sniper, becuase you want to rebuild, and you do it to get the BEST return possible, you simply DO NOT trade , Thomas Vanek to a team trying to get better NOW, for their 2nd round , concussed, goalie and TAKE SALARY BACK......

You can't look at this and say "This is all we got for Vanek" because that is so completely inaccurate it's not even funny.

It's been stated nowhere.. He's playing here. Only one who might be bought out is Hodgson. And if you ask me if I'd rather keep an underachieving young center/winger or a 35 year old 3rd line over the hill player I'm keeping the young guy.

Not blowing a gasket over this but damn, i thought for sure as the details emerged we would at least be getting a pick back for taking legwand.

They just traded their best tradeable asset for a goalie in a goalie heavy market. Familiarity, potential, age.. Doesnt mean much to me when we need to add scoring, and average goaltending these days gets you to the playoffs. With a shot at going deep.

Buffalo also had the 21st pick and could try to move up, trade it or just use it there. Murray said, “If there’s a guy left in our top 10, that would be outstanding, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. Number two is a team calls and they’re having problems with their cap situation and they offer a 23 or 24 year old top six forward or top three defenseman or number one goalie and they’d be willing to take 21 for that.” Murray added, both scenarios are optimal for us and the chance of either scenario happening right now is slim to none.”
