Pittsburgh has nothing for us to consider, trade him to carolina or phoenix for their first pick.. and a b level prospect, that will be enough.. also if carolina throws in a 2nd Id offer to take Semins contract

So another team in a rebuild is trading away a top 5 pick in order to acquire your older expensive player and move themselves closer towards the same position the Leafs' are in now...?

Pretty sure if Rutherford is dumb enough to offer Kapanen, 2016 1st and Pouliot for Kessel and Gardiner, you'd probably take it.

I wasn't basing him not panning out on the fact that he's on the block. I was basing it on the fact that he wasn't all that good for the Rangers. Hence the comparison to grabbing Kessel from the Leafs, everyone thought Yandle would shine with more talent around him. I'm not saying Kessel isn't a good player, but the mindset of "oh look what he manages with the Leafs, imagine what he could put up with a good team" is a dicey one.

Yes I agree it is a dicey one. But all we can do is wait for a GM to get impatient, overpay, and take the coin flip which is Kessel.

Have to agree with a lot of the habs fans on this post. Sharp is a better fit for a team struggling to make the playoffs than a team struggling to go deep in them.

I've got a feeling, a strong one, that this is ownership's fault for pushing a cup winning season at all expense to increase team value...it's the only thing that would make sense if such a backwards deal was made. Similarly for Sharp, Phaneuf, Marleau or any of the other older, high priced players we'd have to give up good young assets to acquire.

Yeah, definitely feel it coming. I really am scared to watch the draft tomorrow.

I'm thinking Kapanen Pouliot plus whatever is pitts worst contract and 2016 first for Kessel and 2016 2nd and maybe a mid level prospect.

Pitts 1st will probably be in the mid to late 20's with Kessel and the leafs pick will be a high 2nd round. So probably within 10 spots of each other.

So you say Florida and Nashville are still in on Kessel yet Friedman says both are out of the Kessel running. Guess who I'm gonna believe?

It's not about the probability or truth to a rumour it's what you can say to bring in more hits and views!!!. Who needs credibility now a days.

Just a thought. Leafs get another first and still have a 2nd. Maybe its pittsburghs 2nd but Not having a 1st this year and then not picking till the mid 50's next year might be a bit much for them to swallow.

am i the only one who doesn't want to dump Kessel, get fair value or keep him.
and my idea of fair value is a mid 1st a prospect and an high salary roster player to help with the cap hit, but that player still has to be serviceable
