Fair offer, doubt AZ could resign him though which is probably why it wouldn't happen. - maxbart5
Agree. AZ should be asking for next year's 1st as well if they were even considering trading for O'reilly. I think AZ could get a better return from CBJ anyway. |

Doesn't make sense at all really, Chicago needs to move him as a cap dump, and Only way Habs could work it is by sending another dump back.
I mean maybe I'm missing something, but.... |

CBJ blogger was saying their 8th overall, Kerby Rychel, and a 2nd rounder for AZ's 3rd. I'b be all over that if i was Maloney.

They don't have a 1st for one, and if they did I don't think you'd get it plus Maata, would have to be a 2nd or a slightly less impactful player.
Also don't think Pens move any D given it's their soft spot. - ehabs9
for one; I never specified which 1st round pick it would be
for two; Seems like everyone forgets Phil Kessel is an ELITE player on a bad team.
for three: Pitts has all off season to acquire new D men |

I'd be good with that. Wouldn't mind paying a price for a young Oiler forward either, don't know what Chia pet's stance on what's already there is though. |

We need Patrick Sharp on our team about as bad as ingrown toenails. Come on Bergevin, you can do better than that. |

So was Yandle, didn't really pan out for the Rangers...
Also why make a problem even bigger with the hopes of "fixing it over the summer". Pens have made a lot of near sighted moves that haven't worked and created other issues, why they'd keep doing it, and to such a serious degree here makes no sense.
On the other hand, it is Rutherford, so maybe |

Maybe Kunitz is a little overboard he still has a little bit of hockey to play before you can conasider him just a cap dump.
Scuderi, Maata, 1st rd for Kessel
We're gonna see it happen tomorrow - ThomasBreen91

I'm a TML fan and even I can agree and say that move would be ridiculous. Canadiens will take a cheaper route and trade for another bull like smith-pelly |

The Blues? I have heard they may be wanting to move back into the first round..but what would it take for us to move into the #3 spot? I'm guessing A LOT. |

If iIm AZ, I would ask for two 2nds, 8th overall, Rychel, and Anisimov. Seems like a lot but if CBJ is really that desperate for a top defense prospect, they'll do it. If not, I'm sure Maloney wouldn't lose sleep over drafting 3rd overall. May even find a better offer somewhere else. |

Eklund is the obvious choice here |

Yandle was never a long term fix. He was picked up for a deep playoff run. Trading Yandle while he still has high value is actually a smart move for Sathers, He's not doing it because "he didn't pan out" like you said. Media been reporting for awhile NYR are trying to re acquire a first rd pick. |

This 100%. Quick fixes will end up ruining the Penguins just like they did when Shero was trying to do them. |

Nah that's way too much. Maybe the two 2nds if Rychel wasn't involved. |

I've got a feeling, a strong one, that this is ownership's fault for pushing a cup winning season at all expense to increase team value...it's the only thing that would make sense if such a backwards deal was made. Similarly for Sharp, Phaneuf, Marleau or any of the other older, high priced players we'd have to give up good young assets to acquire. |

I wasn't basing him not panning out on the fact that he's on the block. I was basing it on the fact that he wasn't all that good for the Rangers. Hence the comparison to grabbing Kessel from the Leafs, everyone thought Yandle would shine with more talent around him. I'm not saying Kessel isn't a good player, but the mindset of "oh look what he manages with the Leafs, imagine what he could put up with a good team" is a dicey one. |
