How bout the 9th pick and Tommy wingles for Hagelin and Talbot?

there are too many variables that make it not happen today

what if Edmonton is considering a trade for the the 16th pick but is waiting to see if a guy is still at that spot? I still think it's very possible it could happen during the draft

that's a good point, I also think it goes down on draft day.

Regarding Haglin and Klein, I don't see how Haglin is a $3.5m player at all, it's a luxury to have that on your 3rd line. I can see the Rangers extending him for less for another 2 years. Klein is similar, not overpaid per say, but a luxury to have a $2.9m dman on the bottom pairing. We will need to free up more cap so he's likely the easiest find a suitor for him, he's probably worth a 2nd + mid level prospect for a team desperate for D help (Dallas, Car, maybe even Detroit would want to add him). If I had the choice I'd move Klein before I move Haglin.

If the 3-3 reduces shootouts by 30 something %, i'm all for it. I would rather have the shootout completely gone, but apparently they are not going to do that.

I mostly disagree ... I also want shootouts gone, but I think 3 on 3 is a mockery of the game ... If the NHL really wants games to end before the shootout, then play without goalies

The Rangers also signed him as an undrafted UFA. So basically gave up nothing to get him.

Don't think that's really relevant. If he walks, we have nothing. If we trade him, we have two 2nd rounders. In case one, we have no assets. In case two, we have 2 quality assets. I think it's clear which one is an example of better asset management.

It isn't any worse than whats going on now. All the 3-3 does is create more chances.

If they aren't willing to toss the shootout(which they should absolutely do) this is the best option.

It would be dumb to not trade him somewhere for that reason. Sather should only be worried about getting the best return possible

they don't even have the option to have Skapski as the backup at first, he had surgery after season with a 4-5 month recovery period. Doubtful he'd be thrown right into Ranger backup role after that
