Interesting, none the less. What's your opinion of him? Mine's a bit mixed. - JohnnyNYR27
I like Bieksa, not for the Rangers because there is no need, but I have always liked him |

He's like a defenseman version of Lucic |

Agree with you. He's starting to fade, too. |

If we can somehow get the 16th from EDM before tomorrow, would anyone package that and Hags/Klein to SJS for #9? |

I'm torn with taking on a prospect with a high pick. Not sure thats what this club needs. A high pick packaged with a roster player could get us back a solid young player that can contribute to what we need now and for the next 3-4 years. Unless we get a kid that can make the team immediately which is tough on this team. We have guys like Buch, Haggerty, Lindberg, Tambellini that should make the roster in the next few seasons, adding another piece to that doesn't seem like good asset management right now. I'm leaning towards moving whatever we get for Talbot to a rebuilding team for a good young player that fills a need now. |

Thats exactly what I want to do but not for another pick. I would package the 16th with Hags or Klein for a solid 22-23 year old player already in the league. Preferably one with size and scoring touch. I really have a hard on for Jimmy Hayes, maybe we can pry him from the Cats with a good package. |

Is there a rule saying we can't resign him now after 1 year with another team? Would anyone want him back on a 1M 1 year contract? Resign MSL too on 1M. 1 last chance to win a cup with NY. Trade Hags.

We could re-sign him now, because the year period has expired. But, he can get way, way more than $1 million on the open market if he wanted to. I would take him for the same deal he signed with Chicago last year, because I think he is an absolute bargain at that price.
He's slowed significantly, but he is still a very skilled player who is a great leader in the room.

I would take him back too. He still helps on the PP with his vision, and he's still good for the playoffs. Not to mention another faceoff option. |

What if Richards and MSL connect for 80-90pts. combined at the same cap hit as Hags? Especially if they play against 3rd pair Defense. |

I agree. We have enough leadership now and plenty of experience which is probably the best attributes they'd bring. I can see both of them ending up in Tampa for cheap |

To me, what a player brings has to be viewed relative to his cap hit. I have always been a huge Hags fan, second only to probably you. But, Hags at $4 million per (or close) is dangerous contract.

Best goalie available but also the oldest and has chronic injury issues. In 2 years after he retired Edmonton will be looking to spend assets on another goalie, again. |

I really don't believe he'll get to $4 mil, I'm holding out hope for a 4 year $14 mil deal |

Yeah why go 30+ then have to do it again in a few years? Talbot is 27, cap hit for this year is $1.4 compared to $.2 for the next 3 years, doesn't make sense |

Defenseman Mike Green and center Eric Fehr will not be returning to the Capitals next season and will test the unrestricted free agent market on July 1, the agent for both players told CSNwashington.com on Thursday. |

I don't think its that crazy to see each of them get 40+ points. How many did MSL have this past season when he was "terrible"? |

I know we have Yandle, but Green is the type of offensive defenseman I would love. The guys loves to shoot. |
