Providence is going to have an excellent 1-2 punch in net this upcoming season assuming subban sticks around.

On another note, it doesnt look like there will be a contract for Dougie before free agency hits. According to this article I found, it appears the team is willing to match up to 7 million on an offer sheet. Yikes.

Here is the link to what I read.

On a different note. Who does everyone like with the 14th overall pick?

- dothedougie

If we had the 16th pick from Edm. I like what I have heard about the Colin White kid. Very good two-way player and clutch goal scoring. Seen some people write that he is the closest thing to Bergy in the draft. But, at 14 that's a stretch.

If one of the D-men drop that far, maybe them. Kyle Connor is a skilled speedster, if he is still there then definitely him.

Watched the video, and I agree with everything said. He isn't Doughty (Yet anyways) and is 21 years old. He should be more than willing to do a 2 year 8-9 million, or 3 year 15 million. And Boston has that money to sign him to that, I don't see what is taking so long for Sweeney to get that done, unless they are playing hardball or Hamilton is being greedy (which I don't believe is his character)...

If he signs for that, he will receive his payday when both his and Chara's contracts are up.

Sign him for hopefully 4 million this year, and spend the remaining space to get Spooner, Connoly and Pasta under contract. Then 4 million space comes along in October for some play room. Or actually, hold off on the kids because they can't demand much and aren't going anywhere, and try to sign a backup goalie or another defender (Macquaid) in the meantime? Maybe I think they have more money than they do. But, I think I am fairly accurate...

In three years he will be worth $9 plus a year.

And if he is better than Hedman was when he signed his deal with Tampa,
AND
Will be in high demand throughout the NHL,
AND
D-men have salaries INFLATED right now. Phaeuff at $7, Perty at $5.5, Boychuk at $6 (Hamilton can point to the fact that we was above Johnny on the depth chart in Boston), Sekera and Fransan will be $6 plus...............
Dougie is a better player than all of them OR it's pretty close.

Show him the MONEY!

Yeah, in three years $9 million will be the new $7 million Chara had (It pretty much already is). With a rise in cap, and Chara's contract gone, we will have the money in three years to pay Dougie as the #1 D on the team with $9 million. That's all I was trying to say.

-Boychuck got that contract extension due to his stellar year with the Isles, he was making 3.5 million under Hamilton on the depth chart in Boston
