Weber has lead our team in blocked shots for each of the past 3 seasons..

In 2014 he was 12th in the NHL.
In 2013 he was 16th in the NHL.
In 2012 he was 25th in the NHL.

He is not a top 4 guy but his role in the bottom 6 DEFINED and definitely NEEDED on this team.

He also directs a few of them right into his own net...

My wish list for Tim Murray:
1. Trade for O'Reilly
2. Trade for Sharp
3. Trade for Okposo
4. Trade for Couture
5. Sign UFA Beleskey

What a clown.

You're going to sit there and tell me ROR and Sharp are higher on your list than (frank)ing Logan Couture. I gotta take a 5.

WHY even bring in Oduya?? I don't get it. He wasn't even THAT great for Chicago.

he had 5 points in the playoffs but 26 in 76 regular season games.. was only +5 on Chicago. He hasn't even topped 17 pts in a season for almost 8 years. Why pay him probably 4M to come play top 4 minutes. I'd rather have the younger guys we have.

Bogo and Gorges can eat big minutes. Pysyk and Weber can be paired with them on different pairings as well. Big Z and Risto were solid together last year too. Keep Ruhwedel as the 7 and McCabe in Roch.

- JVince11

He wasn't? Chicago pretty much played with 4 D for the entire playoffs. If even one of those 4 "isn't that great" they don't even make it to the finals, let alone win the Cup.

Mike Weber is not a top 6 D on a good team in the NHL. He's just not.

Him blocking shots all the time means we don't have the puck. Sure he will stand there and block a shot and sometimes you need that but when one of your least played defensemen are in the top 25 in block shots in the NHL something is wrong. It means when he is on the ice more often than not the Sabres do not have the puck.

- Stripes77

I'll get that message straight to Roman Josi who was 2nd in the NHL in blocked shots.. and how about Girardi in NYR. Markov in MTl.. Oh and Shea Weber.. he must be (frank)ing garbage then too since he is top 10 in blocked shots almost EVERY year that he has been in the NHL.

Good point bud... excellent.

I agree. Weber is not the guy who is going to take us over the top, but he is a part of the success we are going to have.

Plus it's painful watching him trying to get out of his own end...

I completely agree. Hes a great number 6...nothing more nothing less.

He allegedly is also great in the locker room and a hard worker.

I think you missed the part where he put "least played defenseman."

He's brutal in his own zone as soon as he touches the puck.

It all relates.

yes I know that he was one of their 4 that they basically played with. 24 TOI/G but he was the only one who was negative +/- with -4. Hjalmarsson was +6 and Seabrook +5 with Keith at +16. Rozsival played 17M TOI/G and was -2.

I don't think he was really that great. he was subbed in and otu with Rozsival as the 4th.

Mike Weber was just eating butt hair when he was all mad our fans were publicly showing that we wanted to lose. He's all about discretion (and deflections... into our net)

He is good in the locker room. That's about what he brings at this point though. He always takes a dumb penalty at the most inopportune time. You can pretty much count on it.

Do I hate him? No, but really he should be no more than a 7th D on a playoff caliber team.

Weber was at just shy of 19 M per G.

Josi and Weber were over 26.

Markov at 24 and Girardi at 22.

Not that far off as you may think.

The other thing you are missing was PK time that Weber was on the ice. Weber lead Buffalo with 153 M shorthanded on the ice and Myers was 2nd at 136.
