trading Reinhart before he's played more than 9 games in a Sabres uniform should be a crime punishable by 6 super mighty packs
- feetontheair22

Trading Reinhart wouldn't be the crime. Trading Reinhart and not getting the closest thing to a guarantee that the return would be special is the crime. Ryan O'Reilly is the furthest thing from that.

Because certain people aren't sold on him when he hasn't had the chance to show his full ability. The risk is so low and the reward is so high with Reinhart, you're right, it's (frank)ing asinine.

I just don't get the logic. Draft Eichel, and be set down the middle for the next decade. End of story. Most important position in hockey and Tim Murray literally had to do no work to get Reinhart and Eichel. (Well he had to keep us bad)

Don't complicate things

Trading Reinhart would be a monumental mistake unless it's for something we couldn't find any other way. I'm not sure why this is even being discussed. Kid hasn't even really started his NHL career and he's our new Stafford.

All 3 of those things were the basis of my frustration yesterday. Along with the fact that Reinhart's potential heavily outweighs ROR's proven ceiling.

Because Dope and Bulldog introduced a bullpoop conversation. Ya know. Because Mike "I know Myers is bad because his +/-" Schopp and Matthew "I doubt Hedman will ever be better than a #3" Coller are so damn brilliant.
- TheSabresTaco

I really wonder how much a guy like Coller gets paid.

I know Schopp has a contract, and gets extra for advertising and whatnot, but all of us throw poop at a wall and hope it sticks around here too. The only difference is we don't make a living off it.

Listen, I've said that, largely given his average skating ability, that if Sam Reinhart ends up being the best center on his team, this team most likely won't be a championship one. They still would be very good, but the chances of it being great will be slim. That's why the whole idea of tanking was important this year. What gives both McDavid and Eichel the "generational" label is not only do they have unbelievable skill, hockey IQ, etc., but they also are elite skaters, something the likes of a John Tavares isn't. That's why he, while still an elite player, is below the likes of a Crosby, Stamkos, etc., because all those guys are far better skaters. Tavares' skating has improved to the point that he can do very, very well for himself in this league, but it's still well below rest of the folks he's in the conversation with. Reinhart is in that same boat.

That being said, you need both. The skater without the rest of the package, which is essentially what O'Reilly is, sets your team back. Trading Reinhart for #3, and then acquiring O'Reilly by using other assets basically ruins all the "work" this team put in for the last two seasons. It gets you further from a championship.

- buffalofan19

Can you imagine John Tavares as our second line center? This team will be beyond great.

Trading Reinhart would be a risk, and probably not one I'm going to make. However, I'm not going to say that there isn't a return in the world that I would take for him either. However, neither Ryan O'Reilly nor #3 overall fall into that category, nor is it for any GM that knows anything about building a championship team.

Yes, it would, but the bolded part is the key. This could start a firestorm if I said this in the Islanders blog, but if that team is going to win a championship with Tavares on it, they may actually need to find a center that ends up better than he is, or at the very least, maybe one with slightly (and I do mean slightly) less skill, but far better skating ability.

A stud LHD that could play with Ristolainen. But even then they would have to be really, really good

Makes you question your life, doesn't it.

He got paid to put up a blog regarding a countdown from worst to best choices for Eichel's number.

I'd take Victor Hedman and Drouin. It's an over payment and I don't give a poop.

I golfed in the WGR tournament years back. I do know from talking to station directors and whatnot that those are part-time jobs for a lot of those guys. Coller is probably one of them.

I saw something about that, but I refused to actually read it. What number did he say was best? Just so I know he was wrong when Eichel picks something else.

Aschwach grew up across the street from Corey Griswold. They pretty much all are part time. He was a teacher as well and moved out of state, which is why he left WGR. I think the only ones that aren't are they guys like Simon, White, Schopp and the Bulldog.

90, I believe. I was actually pushing for 91 before the article was written. Combo of his college and WJC number.

Look at the teams that have one championships in the past, not only do they have supremely talented centers, but those centers can skate really, really well. It's pretty well documented that Reinhart doesn't have that.

It would be awesome if both he and McDavid used 97.

I still get the feeling he picks 15. He's worn it before and it's the year he's being drafted. Just seems fitting.

Though, I'm probably going to be completely wrong.

I'd like him to take 19. That number needs a fresh take.

With Reinhart taking 23 and Eichel taking 19, the blood can be washed from the jersey.
