but if you can trade him for the 3rd overall pick in a better draft class you pull the trigger.

I'm not trading Reinhart at this point for anything less than a top 10 NHL center or top 5 Defenseman. His ceiling is too high right now to trade him for anything less

I could actually see reinhart as 1 center setting up scoring wingers and eichal as 2 center scoring goals. Also sick of hearing darcy won every trade...he was always selling(not his fault)and took the offers given to him. When it was time for him to buy he failed miserably. Not saying the kane trade was a good one yet, but darcy would never of had the foresight to make that kind of trade. Good or bad id rather try and fail than never try at all. TM is going to win some and lose some its the nature of the beast especially dealing with 18 and 19 yr old kids

Damn, I missed Homer go off the deep end.

Still looks like Reinhart is/was being discussed on pg.21 so looks like a lot of fun backreading.

Ryan O'Reilly really has been hyped up as a superstar. I am amazed at how good he has become since April when he last played

I think the question is do you take Marner, Hanifin or Provorov. I wouldn't trade Reinhart to take Strome but I'd leave that to scouts who know more than me.
- GilPerreault11

I think Marner has the most upside at #3. I like provorov better than Hanifan but which way does Provorov shoot? Left would be great, right not great with our current team

Trading Reinhart is asinine IMO. He's played 9 NHL games and was the 2nd overall pick.

Unless you are getting a bonafide star #1 defensemen, I don't see why you trade him. And Noah Hanifin isn't a star yet

- sbroads24

Because certain people aren't sold on him when he hasn't had the chance to show his full ability. The risk is so low and the reward is so high with Reinhart, you're right, it's (frank)ing asinine.

Yeah, that's it. It's not the skill, the elite IQ, the elite passing, the maturity, the leadership, the poise, the elite play making ability and the early comparisons to John Tavares.

It's the 2nd overall pick, bro.

I've never seen so many armchair scouts and gm's show up on here in the last day talking about it. For as many questions as there is about Sam why is there so much certainty for ROR? The guy might not ever crack 50 pts again who knows. Nobody knows!

Trading Reinhart would be a monumental mistake unless it's for something we couldn't find any other way. I'm not sure why this is even being discussed. Kid hasn't even really started his NHL career and he's our new Stafford.

Its the one move I wouldnt mind moving Reinhart for.
- Mentalorgasm5

Why?

For what?

Marner the mighty midget? Hanifin?

Talk about spinning your wheels.

On this roster he won't crack 50 for 3 years.

Keep Sam, save the money, solidly the D, add a skilled winger and we're off to the races.

It's so frustrating. The thought of having Eichel, Reinhart, and Girgensons as our top 3 centers is pretty sick. But hey, let's trade one of them away.....

Listen, I've said that, largely given his average skating ability, that if Sam Reinhart ends up being the best center on his team, this team most likely won't be a championship one. They still would be very good, but the chances of it being great will be slim. That's why the whole idea of tanking was important this year. What gives both McDavid and Eichel the "generational" label is not only do they have unbelievable skill, hockey IQ, etc., but they also are elite skaters, something the likes of a John Tavares isn't. That's why he, while still an elite player, is below the likes of a Crosby, Stamkos, etc., because all those guys are far better skaters. Tavares' skating has improved to the point that he can do very, very well for himself in this league, but it's still well below rest of the folks he's in the conversation with. Reinhart is in that same boat.

That being said, you need both. The skater without the rest of the package, which is essentially what O'Reilly is, sets your team back. Trading Reinhart for #3, and then acquiring O'Reilly by using other assets basically ruins all the "work" this team put in for the last two seasons. It gets you further from a championship.

trading Reinhart before he's played more than 9 games in a Sabres uniform should be a crime punishable by 6 super mighty packs

It amazes me as well, especially when we're talking about junior and college hockey, which, while the coverage has improved over the past decade or so, isn't anywhere near the level of college football, basketball, or even baseball. There's not anywhere near enough exposure to make these kinds of judgments.

However, you can read scouting reports, and get a consensus on some guys (i.e. can he skate really well or not), but not all of them.

Because Dope and Bulldog introduced a bullpoop conversation. Ya know. Because Mike "I know Myers is bad because his +/-" Schopp and Matthew "I doubt Hedman will ever be better than a #3" Coller are so damn brilliant.
