That's the whole point of the conditions. RORs agent can only screw the Sabres if the lose everything if the deal can't be done. With these alternate rights, Murray can look the agent squarely in the eye and say "we don't lose if you walk. We still take value even if you don't sign."

We do though, the goalies don't make up for giving up a 1st rounder, McCabe and grigo, especially since at 21 they could probably get a goalie with a higher ceiling.

And I can't see any team willing to agree to those kinds of conditions anyways.

It seems that half of us rather not make these trades at all. For the other half he is a guy that is valuable enough to be a chip but not the best chip.

Report rangers rejected two 2nd round picks for talbot. Steep price, even worse NYR rejected that. Hope it wasn't us that offered it. Means we would need #21. No way I do that

I would sign UFA Karri Ramo, similar stats and let Irbe have at him...save those picks to acquire a RW'er and Dman or use 31 on Blackwood if he's there

The way I look at it is like this

Colorado would only trade him if they can't sign him
Only reason they can't sign him is if he wants too much money
So are we then trading, and trading a lot for a guy that a team better than us, that also has cap room decided that money would be better spent elsewhere?

The 1st offer would see him move down to another top ten pick in this years draft.
The 2nd offer involves a young prospect that is so good that the Coyotes would not get a draft pick in return at all.
