same is true of Pysyk's smarts and passing ability. If it came down to deciding between the two, I'd rather move the guy making more than 5mil a year.
- Sabresfan-365

Pysyk has been a favorite of mine for a few years now. I feel like he could be our version of Hjalmarsson. No they don't play the exact same type of game, but I think Pysyk will mean the same thing to us.

He's not moving Bogo
- SABRES 89

I don't think he is either, he's not moving Reinhart but pages on pages were discussed. I just offered my unabashed opinion.

I predict that J D Compher is in a package just because

I think you may be underestimating bogosian then. But you make a fair point. I'm not really worried about the money. Good teams make it work. I'd like to keep both I just see Pysyk as a more likely trade piece

If he's got a little checkmark beside his twitter handle that's the information you should take seriously.

I probably am, never been a fan of him. Hopefully it works out.

From us? Reinhart+?
- Sabresfan-365

If we're going to draft players just to turn around and trade them for more draft picks then what's the point of drafting at all?

Not saying they should but I'm guessing that's what the price will be.

Even though I'm not the biggest Reinhart fan then you walk away from that deal if that's the case.

Most players with only one year left on their contract before UFA don't get full value so if Toronto wants to overpay let'em.

Does anybody see Marner making a real impact at the NHL level given that he's like 165 lb.

Tyler Ennis is 169, seems to make it work.

Well, maybe then, I didn't know Ennis was that light. But it is enough to scare me away from taking Marner with the 3rd or 4th pick.

I'd like to find a situation where we could have a roster w both Reinhart and OReilly.

Why not both?

I'd like that situation to be after july 1st, with a contract extension that doesn't give me an ulcer.

I can't understand why Murray would want to acquire him before he can officially get him under contract.

On Homer's Reinhart for O'Reilly deal chat....

If you make that trade, you are saying you think Reinhart is not going to pan out. You don't make that deal or likely even consider it if you think there's at least a decent chance Reinhart turns out to be the player he is expected to be.

Forgetting for a minute that there is absolutely a question if O'Reilly is going to sign an extension here, because it's A. no lock B. going to cost a ton financially (the pay it now figure it out later model does NOT always work contrary to what some believe) and C. if you were him, why would you sign and not just wait to be a UFA and hold all the cards while knowing full well that you will still get paid, you are also setting a precedent if you make that deal.

Do you always trade high end potential for current production?

I get that is not being said, but if you do, that is a fast way to never winning, IMO.

I get that Reinhart isn't big. I get that he isn't flashy. I get that his skating is an issue, although that one I say means a lot less than others think. If the game was played like the year after the 04-05 lockout, I would lend more credence to the skating problem.

I also understand the value of O'Reilly and all that he brings (which is far from constant physicality).

All I am saying is wouldn't it be nice, for once, to watch all of our own quality prospects grow and develop together?

Yes, they won't all pan out. Yes, some will fail, but some will also succeed, and even exceed expectations.

I would much rather sign someone like Oduya to even out the LH/RH defensemen and sign a stop gap RW, or even move one of the centers to RW then make a trade for a now guy when the team isn't ready now.

So many people want to run before they walk, and I don't get that mentality.

I get that we have been watching crap sandwiches for years now. Next year the team will not be a crap sandwich to watch, and that is a good start.

I will stick to my belief that one more high picking draft will complete this team.

I think that would be the situation where a lot of other people have already commented on. I would take Zadorov + going the other way. Would you really want to weaken our future defense? Many here feel Zadorov's ceiling is top pairing. Is him + #21 worth it? Or maybe Colorado want more Zad's, 21, and Grigerenko. I think Murray would be crazy to pursue this guy given how deep we are already at center. And I just don't see RoR as being a top line winger.

Since the talk of trading Reinhart was the motif of most of the day I would offer him for pick 3, 4 or 5 for Marner, Ivan Provorov or Hanifin if one of those teams was willing to swap straight up.

I would then have no problem trading 21, Zads, + for ROR if they picked Provorov or Hanifin but they had better talk to his agent and get a deal in principle set before they consumate the deal.

but a deal in principle is basically nothing. Agent could say "yea no worries tim we'll do 6x6" and then on july 1st come back and say "yea about that, we actually ant 8x8."
