Also trading the 2nd overall pick (last season) for a player with 1 year left on his deal pretty much makes you his female dog at the negotiation table.

My issue is you lose 5 years and pay 6m+++ more each year.
I'd take that money and go buy a 1st pair Dman about 26

There's a billion better ways to spend a talent like Sam Reinhart than on an average scoring top 6 center. Especially when he's projected to do everything NoReilly can do, only better.

Well regardless of what anybody thinks about ROR, this is what I know. Not think.

TM loves ROR and really wants to come away with him this weekend. He's going to push hard. If we land him, who knows, I'm NOT saying something is imminent. What I'm saying is don't be surprised if we do indeed get him and pay more than what most of you would want. No, I'm not saying Reinhart but something like Zadorov, 21, +.

That I don't have as big of an issue with.

I don't hate ROR, I am just not trading Reinhart for him, I especially do not want to trade Reinhart plus for him.

Not to the Europeans that's for sure. Maybe to the Americans and Canadians but not the Europeans.

The Americans, absolutely. It's a development camp for them.

That tournament is meaningless to the U.S. Every other country in the tournament does care and the players want to represent their country.

I'd be very disappointed in trading Zadorov for him. But if it's between him and Reinhart, I'd say Zadorov.

I don't see the purpose of pursuing him, unless it's a trade with heavy conditions like you get more assets if he signs an extension and he's going to play RW full time and fill in center at injuries once Sam and Jack are settled. I really don't want him here for a multitude of reasons, but I'm ready to swallow my poop cereal if I have to.

Ok, and what about Malkin, or other teams with 2 really dangerous centers? I'm more than ok with 2 guys in that mold.

You know Reinhart has been compared to Patrice Bergeron because of how smart defensively he is right?

O'Reilly also is the furthest thing in the world from physical.

And yes, Reinhart's ceiling is higher. He is a much better offensive talent

I'm not going to get into this again...

NHL scout, with Stanley Cup rings, said to me "Best case scenario for Reinhart is what ROR is now"

I know, I know.....one person's opinion but one with a solid track record.

Just because ROR doesn't get a lot of PIMS doesn't mean he doesn't play with an edge.....IE Girgensons.

And no, I've never heard Sam being compared to Bergeron.

The consensus around here is that Murray is very interested in ROR but I don't think it will happen.

Please... PLEASE!!! Colorado sign RoR to an eight year contract with an iron-clad no trade clause. I'm so sick of hearing about his trade rumors. We are a team that's all set at center come Friday and trading assets for him would be nothing but a giant step backwards in our re-build. Colorado, if you act now and get a deal done with RoR by Thursday I'll even throw in a free gift of, Cody Hodgeson, at no additional cost to you. You can play him, you can bench him, you can make him scrub every toilet in the Pepsi Center if you like, he's at your disposal. Just make a friggin deal!

Not the Olympics but certainly not anything close to meaningless. Why would star players go if it was meaningless. 99% of your arguments are valid, this isn't. Eichel was very good to great at that tournament, except for one game

I was told on many different occasions that ROR is Murray's target and when I post it some folks seem to go off the deep end. some may not like it but ROR will get 7 or more a year and it just might be from the Sabres.

I found out a few days ago that the talks with the AVS are heating up regarding ROR, so some folks should get use to it.

Yet you make it sound like ROR is this terror to play against, when Reinhart is very comparable to him.

I'll take the 19 year old 2nd overall pick who probably wont cost 7+ mil for another 5 years at least

Not if they want to keep McKinnon and add a couple D men, they aren't resigning ROR and they know it.

Damn
I hope not
Too high a price to pay IMO
And what will it take to sign him?
7mil per?
And then what if Eichel, Reinhart, Ennis & Kane all outscore him?
I think that's very likely
And it could totally screw us with the Cap a few years down the road

I do like ROR as a player though

It's pointless to discuss, trading o'reilly for reinhart at this point makes little sense for the avalanche.

I'm not dismissing anyone's opinion. Ive said fair enough and opinions vary to peoples idea/thoughts on it.

That's what I hate about this board, throw up a good hockey topic for discussion and it gets nasty if you don't agree with certain people. I don't get nasty, I just discuss my points....which of course you don't have to agree with.

- Homer

You certainly don't need or request my support, but I've been reading on these boards for a decade, but if I post my opinion I'm attacked by the "Pack" or whatever the little groupie thing is here.

I've stated repeatedly that the variety of opinions make this board the interesting read that it can be.

The worst part is when they don't read the entire post, cherry pick sections, remove from context. Then when one tries to "clarify" they are jeered and called childish names......

P.S. I am so excited to be a Buffalo Sports fan entering 2015, we all burned our candles at both ends during this past season of "Lose to Win" You would think that we would be open to everyone's opinion and willing to discuss our options as we have never been in such unproven territory.

It doesn't matter if he leads the team in scoring or not, he's 24 and a very solid player and that alone is getting him 7 mill it's the going rate.
