Do you think if the Hawks offered Toews for McDavid the Oilers would do it, we know they would have a huge pow wow about it - HawkfaninBC
Not a chance. That 10.5 million dollar salary would cripple us. Kinda like it's going to do to you. |

Are you kidding me? it wouldn't cripple you..in a couple of years there will be players making more than that..It's most definitely not going to cripple the Hawks either. They will be competing for Cups for the next few years at least. If McDavid turns out to be the "generational" player most think he will become, he will cost way more than 10.5. |

Say bye bye to your depth next season. 21 million for 2 players when the cap is 71 is crippling. |

Might be, if US and Canadian dollars hold up.
If Salary Cap keeps rising.
And, they get McDavid for cheap until he is 27.
And there is no annual lockout when the current CBA expires.

No doubt, imagine what he'll command after his bridge deal. |

Again totally wrong....when you say crippling, that sounds like you're saying we won't have a chance of repeating because we will have no depth? Worst case is we lose Sharp , Bickell and maybe JO but Sharp and Bickell will not be missed , JO still may sign to stay with the Hawks and we have many good prospects ready to roll. I'm not worried in the least and as you probably know , lots of guys would take a little less to play in Chicago and have a good shot of winning the Cup. Example Brad Richards. By the way I am from Edmonton and I really want to see the Oilers get back on track and at least make the playoffs , 10 years is way too long. |

I don't see anyone wanting to buy out Bickell for you. Sharp will be hard to replace. Oduya might sign back for cheap. |

I didn't say that they "would" resign Oduya. It's still a possibility though depending on what trades are made over the next while. They may decide to trade Shaw and Sharp together and then JO is possible. I wouldn't rule out anything over the next couple of weeks. Crow maybe still in play too...It is going to be a very entertaining draft and free agency period I would think |

Not worried about Bickell, even if we get a 3rd or 4th for him , that's ok. |

Now don't tell me you wouldn't take them both on the Wings for that money because I know you would. |

10.5 million each?
Hell no!
That's no home town discount, that's cashing in big time.

For the best captain and leader in any team sport, its a bargain. You can't argue with success. If Stevie Y was still playing he would be getting comparable $ and you would not complain about it. |
