For the best captain and leader in any team sport, its a bargain. You can't argue with success. If Stevie Y was still playing he would be getting comparable $ and you would not complain about it. - HawkfaninBC
Not in the Cap world.
Lidstrom's highest season was 10 million salary, and Toews and Kane aren't him,
especially in Salary Cap world

10.5 million each?
Hell no!
That's no home town discount, that's cashing in big time. - StargateSG1
So you don't want to win any more Cups |

Hawks haven't either with those Cap hits.
Penguins ring any bells?
Top heavy doesn't work. |

Agree to disagree with you. IMO if Stevie Y was in his prime now and the Wings won 3 Cups in 6 years , he would get at least the same money. I really enjoyed watching Lidstrom play , one of the best ever, I am a hockey fan and can admit to greatness when I see it. Doesn't matter which team that greatness is on. |

Honestly hard to compare. T and K.. Not bad at all.
Keith, on the other hand, if he came up for the new contract,
would break the bank in the modern NHL.

You're right there. D men like him are way more valuable than forwards in todays NHL. To win you need a great team with solid depth but especially an excellent top 4 D. |

Yeah, that top four D is arguably the best in the last 5 years. |

It seems that we know our hockey.
D like him are the building blocks of the Stanley Cup champions.

Agree and what is Saad really worth, he's good but not great. I wouldn't give him any more than 4.5 to 5 per year tops. I can't see anyone giving him 7 mil , and if they did I would walk. |

Correct
And if there is a desperate GM out there willing to go stupid and sign him for 7 mil, so be it.
You collect the draft picks.
I am fairly certain that after the Weber offer sheet, which didn't work, it's no use |

Maybe, but again it depends on trades over the next while. What about the Oil though!
I am very optimistic that they will take a big step next season. Just need to be creative and get a couple of good D men and a goalie. I think you will see more F/A's willing to consider them because of McDavid and the young talent they have. PC needs to have the balls to trade Yak and maybe Ebs if the return is right. |

The only way I see either getting traded is for a legit top pair dman but I don't see anyone wanting to trade one |

Rather than fix the 3 point system, they dive deeper into circus play.

It won't happen so its a moot point. And with the cap now set at $71.4M, Bowman has plenty of options out there, regardless of what various talking heads outside of ChiTown want to believe.
Worry about the Oil and see if they can crack the 70-pt mark this season. |

3 point system is fine. 3 on 3 ot does exactly what we all want. Create a LOT less shootouts |

Wow good one. So high and mighty when you were the skid mark of the league not that long ago. I'm sure you still went to and watched games of the Hawks at that point and weren't a fair weather fan that didn't pay attention to them at the time like the rest of your fanbase though. Funny thing, here we still sell out every game as a last place team. I hope San Jose offer sheets you guys again. |

That just means there's 2 less players to score a goal |
