I think they'd offer incentives rather than restrictions though - PhillySportsGuy
I don't agree with restrictions either, but I can understand the point of view that this kind of talent-drain is bad for the long-term sustainability of hockey in Russia.
Luukko was signed to an AHL tryout contract late last season. It's possible he could be re-signed to play for Reading in the ECHL and provide some added AHL depth but he is not an NHL entry-level candidate.
They liked Alt quite a bit heading into the 2014-15 season. Unfortunately, he lost most of the season to shoulder and wrist injuries and was lucky to escape without a concussion after hitting his head on the boards and having to leave a latter-season game. So, basically, it was a lost season for him. Still a prospect for the third pairing but needs more AHL time. - bmeltzer
thanks Bill.
I would like to see Alt pan out. need those cheap solid 3rd pairing guys. just an under the radar guy to root for. law of averages tells you the top 4 d guys will not all pan out.

History has shown that putting restrictions on players just makes things worse. The only way to keep talent is to offer better incentives than the alternatives.

Before instituting restrictions, they could trying having their top professional league honor salaries. Might help a bit.

It's a bit of a chicken egg thing tho... a strong KHL that's on par w/ the NHL (the best incentive) can't happen under present conditions... they need more of their best kids to stay, or they'll always just be an NHL feeder.

If you build it, they will come
Kinda funny how the governments have had such an impact on the KHL

Aren't there restrictions in place now (or, at least proposals) for drafting foreign goaltenders in the CHL?
The anticipation leading up to this draft is literally killing me. Is a trade or two this week to hold us over so much to ask for?
It could be 2 Western Conference teams for all I care. I MISS HAWK-KEY - mochoson
After the suspense is over and the selections made, then it will require more waiting most likely. Players drafted could be years away from playing for the Flyers. That's why I'm not that hyped up about it personally.

I'm salivating at the thought of umberger, vinny, grossman, luke, and Rinaldo donning the Orange and black again. I've got no time for this nonsense either

I want to know who the Flyers pick and if they trade anyone, etc.
But, I'm not going to go out of my way to watch it.

It's my favorite hockey day of the year. - Tomahawk
The timing this year is pretty great. Watch round 1 on Friday night, then rounds 2-4 on Saturday morning. By around noon I'll probably have to leave the house, but the Flyers will have picked 7 times by then.

I personally love watching every second of Flyers hockey, win lose or draw.

So we can take on all these Russian kids who want to come here and take multi million dollar jobs but a dozen Mexican kids with the flu who want to weed your flower bed for $3 an hour is an issue?
