Friend at work just told me he received a tweet that sent out by Jason MaCkay that a Sutter trade is imminent. Didn't see it, so I can't confirm, the tweet but that's what I was told.

I think he means it's going to happen on or before the draft, not in the next few hours, although i may be wrong.

Speaking of trolls, where is our trusty referee? Do we need to send a search party into the strip clubs of Vancouver???

Guile already covered this.

"I do think a trade involving Sutter is imminent. Teams will pay for a young center, coming off a statistically strong season, with that last name."

Cordell just said Atkinson is on the market...

Atkinson and Rychel for 2 of our D?

Two young forwards would be nice to grab.

Haven't seen him in a while. The last strip club reference I saw him make was one in Regina, or Moose Jaw. Not too great of scene to me.

We are in no position to trade two of our D, unless one is Scuderi and I don't think Cbus bites.

I really hope CBJ bit on Sutter for Rychel.

I'm all in on a youth movement. Play Kap, Sund, Wilson, Sheary, acquire Rychel, poach an RFA like JT Miller, Silferberg. Play Dumo, Pouliot, Harrington.

If nothing else the cap space is immense and allows moves mid-season/TDL to address any holes if these kids falter. Also, playing the youth allows other GM's to possibly over-evaluate talent to work in our favor during any trades.

They may be a destination for Scuderi. Not for anything but a low draft pick, but they could use veteran presence on their blue line and have cap space.

Well... at least it'd be a swap of D for Offense... with the limited forwards on the UFA market, can we limp with a weaker D for a year while finally securing some solid wings?

It's crazy that Pittsburgh's name is even being thrown out there with the Phil Kessel trade talks. Pens have both a lack of young assets and cap space, not a fit at all.

Sharp would be an ok add if they are only sending back something like Bennett and a mid round pick. Anything more than that is overpaying. They could fit him under the cap for the next couple years.

Again, Oshie is a fit by default because the Pens have no wingers. What do you give up for him? Despite having a name because of his Olympic performance, he has ONE career 20 goal season and has been absolutely terrible in the playoffs. I would take him off their hands but I wouldn't give up much more than what I listed in the Sharp trade.

The Pens have to stop chasing other teams leftovers. That's the only reason they are involved in all of these rumors, because they have a history of overvaluing guys other teams don't want to keep. Why trade assets for Oshie or Sharp when Justin Williams will be available in Free Agency? I'd rather overpay him for a couple seasons and keep my assets to trade for a younger top 6 player. A guy like Yakupov interests me more than Kessel and a hell of a lot more than Sharp or Oshie.

If Harrington and Dumoulin were part of the discussion I see no reason why they couldn't fill in the holes.

Columbus has no need for forwards, especially at center with Dubinsky, Johansen, and Anisimov. They need Defense.

I would do Harrington + Dumoulin. That leaves us in a spot where we have to sign Franson or someone comparable, and I wouldn't have a problem with it.

We could secure two solid, young wingers. There will always be UFA dmen to sign, forwards are a little harder to come by, especially this year.

No... defense is usually rarer, this is an odd year.

Just to spitball the D core, if this deal would be done near what we are saying... Dumo and Harrington for those two.

Maatta-Letang
Cole - Pouliot
Lovejoy - Scuds/Chourney

Is what we would have after the trade, with Chourney as a maybe.

So, we sign Franson, or another mid UFA Dman...

Maatta-Letang
Pouliot - UFA
Cole - Lovejoy
Chourney (still like him as our 7th)
meanwhile, Scuderi somehow has an accident and is on injury reverse for the next two years...

I'm scared as hell we see someone like Beauchemin coming our way with this scenario.

Does that make it more scary as our current forward questionability?

I'm not calling that a fix to our roster... just giving the scenario.

True. Forgot about Wennberg too. Can't a guy dream?

Anisimov/Rychel for Sutter/Dumo?

As long as it is short-term I'm fine with that. Gotta avoid anything long-term with the geezers.

.....Or Zidlicky.

I think Beauch at 2 mill per for 1-2 years max is a nice backup to a Franson deal

EDIT: He'd partner up well with Pouliot IMO

Why does anyone think these players are going to take absurdly low contracts? Beauch can get at least double that, probably more.
