The report saying CHI currently asking for 1st rd pick, A-level prospect & top 6 forward on entry-level contract for Patrick Sharp.
Said on the radio here earlier that the report was possibly incorrect and that another source indicated the as was a 1st round pick OR and A level prospect OR a top 6 forward on an ELC. A lot of speculation about on JJs thread that this was the case since it came out Friday.
Regardless, Sharp's numbers dipped based on use. When he was playing 1st line minutes the numbers spiked up accordingly and he looked great back on the 1st line at the end of the POs. 3 cup wins and he is considered a leader in the Hawks room. He will be a serious asset for a young team. For Pitt he would bring a scoring winger but you already have experience (not that it's helped). Doubt you're a fit.
With Rutherford though who knows. - tredbrta
I just don't understand why a team would trade a young top 6 player for an aging top 6 player.

A Hornqvist - Crosby - Kessel line would be game over for the Eastern Conference lol - thehockeygod
I feel like we'd give him to Malkin... but unless your GM decides to start binge drinking when JR throws a low ball offer, we realistically can't compete with what other teams can offer. |

The majority of Stanley Cup Champions have paid their top five players ~50 million.
Not going to read thru all the messages but I'd be interested in seeing where RW pulled this stat from. |

And the trade would be game over for the Penguin's future as Dubas would clean out what few assets remain. - jfkst1
True but the only future the Pens should care about should be the next 3-5 year window to win another cup before Crosby and Malkin's window closes on their careers.
I agree, the assets aren't there though. Rutherford already flushed your '15 1st and '16 2nd rounders down the toilet

Tarasenko just seems untouchable, so wasn't including him. No on the other two, because Pouliot will be as good as both of them, and the Penguins need top 6. Schwartz is a legitimate top 6 scoring winger, and at 22, has his best years ahead of him. - cap1681
That's the thing. He "will" be that good. Pitts needs that good now. |

Lets go left field here.
Sutter+ 2015 3rd.
For
Lupul.
Lupul will stay healthy and not be able to hangout with Phaneuf's wife while injured. "He promises" of course.
Kunitz Crosby Lupul
Perron Malkin Hornqvist
??? - MyKillJackedSon
LMAO, TOR fans are so obvious...PIT wouldn't take lupol on unless you gave us a 1st rounder, haha.

I think he intended to say that cup teams spent about 50% of cap on 5 players. |

That short-sighted mindset is what got Shero fired and the Pens into this predicament in the first place. |

That would certainly make sense. The only thing hurting that arguement is the fact that after 50, he put the word MILLION. |

Can someone link me to the report that the return for Oshie would be Bennett and Zlobin? Sounds way to (frank)ing good to be true |

My Oshie trade roster....it will never happen. - sammy87
The one thing that won't happen is you won't get Pulkkinen that easily. Other then that, those are reasonable, good moves that might happen. Really unsure on Oshie's price, odd that his name is out there so much without a rumored return. |

Only way i could see sutter going to TOR for Lupul is if the Leafs retain salary and return the Pens 2nd round pick in 2016. |

Yeah I hear ya. It's tough when you have superstar players like that though but it's also the complete lack of drafting and development. It's not like you haven't had draft picks, there have been ZERO forwards developed through the system through the Crosby era other than Beau Bennett
http://www.hockeydb.com/i...aft/teams/dr00007475.html
The wingers the Penguins have employed for Crosby just aren't good enough, just as the centres the Leafs have had for Kessel have been not good enough. I'd love to see what Crosby and Kessel could do together.

Part of it is poor drafting/developing is certainly part of that. But it's hard to have much of a future when constantly trading picks for rentals and selling on young players for older ones.
