thornton ratio

not necessarily those numbers

17-18 goals in a full season on the second line with 33-37 assists

when he matures, I can envision 25 goals, 50 assists

not a bad thing

5. He sometimes hears about it from teammates

The veterans on Team USA couldn’t help ribbing him about the McDavid rivalry.

“We were giving him a hard time about it, chirping him about McDavid and stuff,” said Jake Gardiner. “It’s all fun and games. I don’t think he’s too worried about it at all.”

In fact, his coach at Boston University, David Quinn, thinks it will only continue to push Eichel.

“I equate it to Kevin Durant and Greg Oden,”
Quinn said. “McDavid and Jack were good for each other. It’s always nice to have that rival.”

This comparison is either awesome or scary. Greg Oden was the #1 overall pick...and a complete bust.

I didn't make the comparison. "Naysayer" would be comparing them to Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf.

Saw this in Garth's thread.

I would probably do it before the Sharks realized what they have done. This is from a Sharks fan.

If we end up trading Hodgson at full salary, we'll have over 15 million in cap floor space. If we buy him out, we'll have about 12 million in floor space. Oof. Reinhart and Eichel cover about 2 million of that space. Pysyk another 2-3? Larsson another 1.5-3. 4th line RW comes in under 3. Goalie comes in probably under 3.

Should be easy to hit the floor.

Not that I doubt Murray in the slightest. It's easy to get to the floor.

- TheSabresTaco

larsson should not be at 1.5-3... more like 1 -1.5

I didn't either. Kane was at the top when he broke his collar bone. He was having a killer season.

Yeah just finished ranting in there. I'd cream my (frank)ing shorts if we got him to play our RW.

Here's the thing about that trade. Yes, I'd love Couture. BUT if you trade Ennis for him, you really aren't improving yourself all that much because you're still short a top 6 RW.

Well see here's my thing.

Let's say you trade to get Couts. You've got a top RW. Replacing Ennis will be a bit annoying, but he's a top 6 guy, not a top 3. (On a great team).

I'm thinking it's easier to replace Enzo than to get a guy like Couts.

I think I agree with you, yes hes a good player but your giving up 2 very good assets to get a player who gets you like 10-15 more points. Which imo wouldn't be worth it

I think the only benefit is a top 3 RW whereas Ennis could probably be better suited on the 2nd line. You're still right in that you're not gaining a top 6, but swapping them.

Couture is a 65-75 point guy. Masterful two way player. Like, if ROR was good. And he's extremely efficient playing either C or RW.

and there is no reason with the additions to this roster that Enzo wont get 60 points which still means your trading 2 strong assets for 10-15 points

I agree with this thought. If we get another top 6 forward, it will be with picks / prospects to keep what we have. Ennis is a strong player, 48 pts with this team is impressive. I think Couture had like 67 pts this year, but had a much better team with him. I think he is an upgrade over Ennis, but I don't think Ennis was the "problem" so I would not think it is worth trading one for the other with a 1st this year from us. Could use in another deal to improve.

I like the trade as long as it's Grigorenko instead of Zads just because I feel stronger on Center than I do D.

If there was a way to make that work without trading ennis that'd be nice since he'd be a pretty good 2nd line center for us. Gotta give to get though

This is the part that most people don't get. IMO Grigorenko dose very little for them. They do need to get a younger D man.. The deal makes sense in theory

I think Grigorenko in any deal at this point is moot. He thinks he's ready for the NHL and it seems the consensus is that he needs time to develop. SJ or any team is taking a huge risk of losing him to waivers if he can't stick with the big club.

I really think he stays and sticks. Camp will be the tell all.
