I don't see us within 12-15 points of last place even with mediocre goaltending.
- Homer

No, not last... But bottom 5
Even if we improved by 24pts...
That would have us picking 5th by this year's standings
And if we have some combo of Johnson, Neuvirth, Lindback &/or Enroth...
I seriously doubt we'd even improve 24pts
More like 14pts
And that would have us pick 3rd
Same spot the Oilers just won the lotto from

That's what happens we have no QB on this roster that's good lol

I wish we call Vick yes he sucks but he get us to the playoffs if not injured lol

- gerbe75pts

The turnover machine Michael Vick is exactly what we don't need.

Guess it all depends on who we trade for and who we sign. Too soon to tell.

Loui Eriksson is still my favorite trade target. Most talent for the value and still under 30.
- TheSabresTaco

I wouldn't mind getting him, but I wouldn't want to give up a ton for him. He's one concussion away from not remembering who he is.

One could pull a Enroth and will 15 in a row. We don't now they can't. Id rather spend wisely than overpay for 6 more points.

Very true
But we are going to have a lot of young kids in the lineup next year
Talented guys like Eichel, Reinhart, Zadorov, even Ristolainen & Girgensons will be inconsistent at times and have periods where they struggle
Making some giant leap up the standings will be tough to do next year without very good goaltending
IMO anyways

We were epically bad last year. Just take out the fact that the team was built to fail and you find probably 10 points. That's really only 5 wins, so it's totally possible. Add in the fact that the team in general should be more competitive and I could easily see them improving by a total of 25 points.

What worries me if we just get a "Lindback" is that we perpetuate the losing cycle (much like what happened in Edmonton)...
Instead of building a winning culture like Bylsma talks about

If that means overpaying for a good goalie over the next couple years while we develop a Gibson, Samsonov, etc... Then I think it's worth it just help these young kids move in the right direction

Agreed i think the jump from rock bottom to bottom is a task in itself.
Young but talented team.. leafs, yotes, canes, devils are the only teams i really see below us.

Then again i had calagry in the tank race last year..

Some of them will command too much for the length. Some will cost us too much in a trade. How much better would they really be ? 50:50 either way.

Philly, Florida(they won't spend money), I think Vanvouver falls out as well.

Teams we will mostly likely be hovering around: Ottawa, Boston (they need to overhaul)

I still say we miss the playoffs but finish around 10th-12th in the conference

I see us around 7 overall. Not really sure why, just a gut feeling.

Don't need to, that team is deep and their best players are only getting better

I'd love to pry Bjugstad out of there, but it's not happening. I like what I've seen from him though.

Idk
With all the teams that have Cap issues, and all the teams looking to move a goalie potentially...
I think the price of trading for a high priced goalie won't be more than a 2nd or 3rd, & maybe a prospect like Carrier
Elliott for example, among others

I don't see it. The player with the most points is a good one but then you have the next highest point total of 47 by a guy who is 43. They are still the Florida Panthers in my eyes.

Barkov hasn't shown much to me. Sure Huberdeau has but they need to compliment those players. If the Sabres get another top 6 right winger I would take our top 6 over theirs.

Boston & Vancouver had almost double the points we had last year
Florida had 39more points than us
I appreciate the optimism,
But I see us climbing up the standings a little bit this year
Next year is when I think we start making some noise

Huberdeau
Ekblad
Barkov
Bjugstad
Jokinen
Kulikov

That's a solid core

Then you have Pirri who scored 22 goals and Hayes had 19
