And that's my point, it's moot now. The whole schtick behind needing to hit on those later picks is because the alternative would require you to the improbable and draft 1st overall several times over several years.

They've got an unbelievable top 6, 2 really good defensemen and finally for the first time in like a decade, a respectable management team and coaching staff. The rest can be filled out via trades and free agency.

They still need decent role players though and those you tend to find in like the 2nd or 3rd round. Those selections require good scouting. Seems they're just spinning their tires right now doing this. This is something that should have been done right when he was hired so that new people could be put in place and given time to research, etc. Considering that these kids are scouted all season, even that would have been late. This whole thing is a joke though. Who waits til 5 days before a draft to fire their head scout?

GR just said Reinhart + 21 for O'Reilly or Bogo, 21, + for O'Reilly. I don't see how that helps us short or long term. Pretty lateral move on the Reinhart side long run without the need to pay him 7 figures, and trading that many decent assets for a position of strength just doesn't make sense.

That would piss me right off. That would be like saying hey thanks for waiting while we are bad now we are just going to do what we planned to do then blow it the frank up

I just don't see either deal making us better enough that it's worth it. IMO Reinhart has a higher ceiling than O'Reilly and comes a lot cheaper. I also like Bogosian as a 2nd pairing D-man. I just don't see the need.

Talk are going on but Reinhart isn't moving, if they can make a deal and get into the top 10 that will push the talks further. They aren't moving Reinhart.

I agree, just would make me think they have given up on Reinhardt which if that was the case why the hell did you draft him then. Then throw in a young top 4. Doesn't help me at all.

Are they talking 2 separate deals or getting oreilly and the 10th pick?

No'reilly.

Colorado will resign him and put this whole thing to bed.

We don't have a good NHL ready LHD to give them anyways

IM all for getting up to 10 at the right deal, I don't care for ROR. If I can get to 10 without dealing any 2015 roster players id be happy

1 deal to move up would then get them very close to ROR but as of now it's talk. IMO the Leafs will sell off what ever to get him, we could use him but not by selling the team off.

Where all this talk of trading Ennis and Reinhart comes from is beyond me, both of those players are going to be very good for the future of this team and have also been mentioned by not only Bylsma but also other coaches in the NHL.

Oh I get it now. He must have little faith in this draft to want to move a top 10 pick for oreilly

Was a big fan before the offer sheet. Since they can't officially talk contract till July 1, all you're getting is his agents word, which is worthless. Agent could turn around and ask for 8x8 or threaten free agency and the sabres would give him that to save face.

A few of them are. It's really Thr whole hook behind this draft, the top 11 or so have a combination of high potential and are pretty close. Which is why this kinda took me by surprise.

whoops

I don't think it would happen, but if it were true that was what my response would have been. I think Buffalo wants assurance that whomever they trade for will not leave after a year and the issues with Grigorenko are definitely there.

I think it's people grasping at straws because Murray isn't really showing any cards like a good GM. I think once draft day comes and goes, it will translate to why Justin Williams is the final piece to the puzzle or why Mike Green solidifies our power play. Ideas that do not make sense, but keep people talking and tuned in.

I guess we should find out soon enough, some teams will be desperate but I can't see any reason for the Sabres to be. Maybe in Murray's mind getting to the top 10 means he has to give up less to get ROR ? don't know how even that is.

Really no reason to acquire him until after July 1 so u at least get him with an extension in place.

Should Tim Murray hold on to his 31st overall pick, he will be looking at a defenseman. Possibly Niagara's Vince Dunn or Erie's Travis Dermott. It makes perfect sense for Murray to trade his 31st overall pick in exchange for a super talented former 4th overall pick Griffin Reinhart?

I think this is the epitome of what you're talking about with the Ennis/Reinhart rumors.

Basically Garth is proposing 21 and 31 for Okposo and G. Reinhart.
