I just laugh whenever I get called a Ryan backer... Unlike him, I liked Fluery, and I was all over the Semin rumor a month before he mentioned it. I get the casual readers here have a very limited memory, but I was pushing for obtaining Semin on this roster before the the 2nd round of the postseason was over.

So? You want a cookie or what? Keep talking about Semin even after he ends up playing for Torpedo by next season. And seriously great name, why don't you call yourself "supreme intelligence" or "I'm so much better than everyone?" How arrogant are you, well just look at the name you chose. I guess having a career and a social life makes me a "casual reader." Fine by me. If you ever crawled out of your parents basement you might find out a little of what that is like.

Kind of torn on this. I hate the idea of trading Pouliot, he is about a year away from being a top pairing player. That being said, Skinner is a very talented player and that 5th will also get you an excellent player.

I like your second trade idea with Sutter & Harrington going rather than Bennett and Pouliot much better but not sure how Carolina would value that.

- MacPatty

Yeah I'm not sure how they'll value either deal, but they are looking for D so I figure they would want DP.

Yeah, have fun with your stock room job at Staples bud. My career has already surpassed anything you can hope to achieve in your life.

Pens: Bennett + Pouliot + this years second + next years first
Canes: Skinner + this years first (5th overall)

What say thee?

Edit: Maybe Sutter + Harrington/Dumo in place of DP if that means more value to CAR

- BourbonCounty

I don't think Francis does this for starters.

So what is everyone expecting from Cole? What's his ceiling? Who is going to be his buddy D man?
- Aussiepenguin

I think he would look good with Pouliot. His skating is excellent and he makes good decisions of when to pinch and when to hang back. I think he would be good at covering Pouliot when he makes a mistake. Then again he's not very big by NHL standards so they would both have to be active and control the puck because it will be hard for them to clear the front of the net. The other idea would be to put Dumo and Cole as the 2nd pairing. Dumo is big enough and strong enough to clear the front of the net, and he was good at it in WBS the last 2 seasons. I'm hoping he works hard this summer and gets bigger and stronger and next year he develops a mean streak like Despres did. If he does he's guaranteed to make the team out of training camp and stick the whole year. I even hope he gets a one way contract because if they commit to him on that level it should give him the confidence he needs.

Yeah I'd think we'd have to add like I said. DP could entice them though. That's basically DP for 5th overall (DP will be ready faster than the pick) so we are a little ahead in value. Bennett + next years first and this years second. Seems pretty fair to me while they shed Skinner's cap hit and rebuild.

Pretty realistic expectations. I doubt Z comes back here though. Probably the darkest days of his career.

If Dupes is healthy and fit enough to come back, I think they need to move on from Kuni.

In a heartbeat...

If it happened... (big IF)... not sure why a rebuilding CAR would give away not only a supreme talent w/ the #5 pick but more importantly for them... a ticket and jersey selling asset. A Strome or Marner would be their Sid. And they're trading that for a bust first rounder, a skilled Dman prospect, the 46th pick this year and a 20+ overall pick next year.

Marner/Strome - Sid - Skinner
Perron - 71 - Horn

That top 6 made it move a little BTW

It's fine. Take Lovejoy out and put Dumoulin in and it's better. But it's stronger than last year for sure.

Yeah I added in the comments that it would be a UFA dman with a cap hit around 3-3.5. I chose Z because that's about what he should be getting. Who knows, maybe he does come back now that we have a coach and a system

CAR is looking for D so I'm sure they would move the 5th for an NHL ready DP. That leaves us a little in head of trade value, now BB + 2nd + first for Skinner could be done, might need to add in a third as well.

I gotcha.. just looking at it from a business perspective. As good as 51 is, I don't think 30-40 point puck moving dmen are marketing dreamboats. If canes want D could be interesting to see if they can trade up to #3 to get Hanafin or take Provorov

Semin is 31... Skinner is going to cost more in assets and cap... Semin has out performed most of Skinner's career. Both are injury prone.

Why are you so stuck on spending way more for someone who hasn't had one year near half of Semin's career, and how do you know he is over? Please, give us your insider information on how someone that you don't even know the age of is done.

- Guile

Actually they both had 2 30 goal and 1 20 point seasons in their 1st 4 seasons.
