Yahoo's approach on the other TM hire.

http://sports.yahoo.com/b...rns-flyers-163020204.html

Also, this.

Restricted free agents Johan Larsson, Phil Varone, Tim Schaller and Jerry D'Amigo will all receive qualifying offers. Kevin Sundher and Zac Dalpe will not. The Sabres are still pondering what to do with Nathan Lieuwen, Jerome Leduc and Jordan Samuels-Thomas, and are undecided yet on unrestricted free agent Matt Hackett.

Talbot or Lack would probably look pretty good in Buffalo.

Anybody read JJ's Hawks blog about them trading Crawford to help their cap issues while Crawford is at his theoretical highest value?

They say the asking price is a 1st and a young player or prospect.

Another suggested they would want the 21st pick, Grigorenko, and Deslauriers.

I sure hope Murray doesn't pay either of those prices!

I think we'll end up getting one of Lack, Lehner or Talbot.

His value is pretty unknown at this point. It really depends on what he's intending on doing. If he's willing to take a 2 way offer, we'd be glad to continue to develop him in the minors. He's a first round talent when it comes to puck skill, but he should really be seen as more of a project, as he was extremely raw with questionable motivation issues when he was drafted. He should really be viewed as a 2nd round pick tbh. It's going to take him 3-4 years from the time he was drafted to be effective in the NHL. Last year he had a pretty good year in his rookie season.

So to answer your question, I think he brings pretty decent value if he's willing to continue to develop. If he demands an NHL spot, it will decrease that value because frankly he can't make enough of an impact yet. Long term, maybe a year or two from now, I'd gamble on him increasing his value 3-4 fold.

I agree. If he lives up to the billing, then it is a great move. I believe you said this already.

The whole 2 way deal thing doesn't make a lot of sense because he'd still have to clear waivers and I'd imagine someone would pick him up

I didn't read the blog, but Bowman said the other day that Crawford isn't going anywhere. They like what he brings to the team, they know he can win, so there's no point in moving him.

I was just reading up on Dave Barr, the other assistant hired. He has had extensive experience as an assistant in the NHL with Minnesota, NJ and Colorado. He also coached in the AHL with the Houston Aeros winning a Calder Cup and Guelph in the OHL where they won the OHL Championship in 2003 and he was named coach of the year there.

I'd have to say Bylsma went with experience with both Muray and Barr and that is what was needed. Keeping Irbe too is a huge plus.

I really don't think he's going to make it through waivers. I realize that most teams probably see the same things we do and know that he needs work, but if he ends up available for free, you best believe someone is going to snatch him up.

Murray is certainly in a pickle with him right now, that's for sure.
