Then you must not frequent this site a lot.

Again Icing a team of all kids does not work in the real world. B-C level FA's that will get overpaid is not the way to go either.

What is your cut off age for a player the Sabres should acquire?

Chicago was once a 30th place team you know, and then they kind of went on and won 3 in 6 years... but hey LUDICROUS!!!!

This.

Chicago built a core of young players (something the Sabres have done as well) and surrounded those players with veterans to compliment them. Something the Sabres should do.

Actually they weren't.

They won the Kane Lotto from the 5th spot.

I tend to agree. Not to mention you can try and sign a guy like Niemi or sign back Neuiverth.

You can also float a 3rd rd pick to see what kind of offers you get. Plenty of ways to go about getting a goalie without spending a 1-2 rd pick on one.

- ImThatGuy

all goalies are going to be prospects that will take time

we have a few in the pipeline already

grab one 4th round or later, no reason to grab one in the first 2 rounds

goalies have never been an issue here

Take it easy there big guy.....We are not saying we shouldn't have SOME aging players, of course we should, we just need to be careful when aquiring the right ones BASED UPON OUR CURRENT STAGE IN OUR DEVELOPMENT.......You do know that CHICAGO HAS BEEN AT A DIFFERENT LEVEL OF DEVELOPMENT over the Past 6 years, correct????

P.S. Save your opinion on who should be allowed to post on HBuzz to the Admins and Refs....

Its a beautiful day to be a SABRES FAN!!

x2

You cant have your big time future franchise players playing with guys still learning their way.

Exactly why at the right price Nash is perfect

Nash goes a long way to help give us proven talent on the top line and a legit upgrade on the pp

I only meant that they were BAD for a long stretch and aquired their TOP END Talent in the same way we are during our rebuild.

But I do appreciate the finer details, I guess winning the LOTO at 5th Worst team is nice, but they had to be pretty bad for a number of seasons, and they were was my point.

I remember watching Denny Savard, LOVED his Spin-O-Rama and then Campbell perfected it and we didn't think he was part of our core.....

It's all about setting your youth up to succeed.

Putting good players around them and not having the kids carry the load.

Also not having to play a guy like Ennis on the top line when he IMO would be better suited on the 2nd line.

I was just talking about Soupy with my cousin. The contract he got was crazy but he wouldn't be a bad guy to have now even at his age, to help the PP out.

The question isn't whether they should add "Some" Vets, of course They Should,

Discussions seem to always go , ALL or NOTHING on here. I have never suggested we shouldn't supplement our roster with Vet players......Its only the cost of our talent pool that I have a disagreement upon.

You do realize we have/had on our roster last season:

Gionta - 36 yrs Old

Matt Ellis - 33 yrs Old

Moulson - 32 Yrs Old

McCormick - 32 yrs Old

Beniot - 30 yrs Old

Strachen - 30 yrs Old

Mezaros - 30 yrs Old

Ok so explain how we DIDN'T have ANY Vets on our team last year????

Let me explain this verrrrryyyyyyy ssssslllllllooooooowwwwwlllllllyyyyyyyyy

If we can aquire an aging Vet that Murray likes for a "Reasonable" amount or for Free, they we should, we are not currently in the stage of development to OVER pay out of youth stock pile for a STAR 30+ player.

P.S. Many of Chicago's 30+ players CAME to THEM to play because of their patience and youth development into Talented Elite Players.

I think Nash is perfect to help the Young Centers grow. Along with Gionta I think they would bring alot to them

Stripes, you have always been able to see the "grey" area, never calling out on a poster for hating on a player, or why don't we want a 40 goal guy????

As you very secinctly put it, "AT THE RIGHT PRICE" would be perfect.....I would LOVE NASH for our Number #31 , Grigerenko, Plus a decent prospect, but nobody from our core, and I include ENNIS and BigZ as part of our core. Everybody else can go or come as they please......

New to the boards so go easy on me here, I like kessel, I like ROR, I don't think Nash is a good fit.
I feel like Nash is akin to buying a gallon of milk and then going on vacation for 2 weeks. If we're giving up picks/ prospects it's not great asset management

Let me explain this to you in a language you can understand

The team last year with Benoit, Mezaros, Matt Ellis, and Strachan was built to do one thing LOSE.

Now let me break it down much more slowly for you...

I said IF space THE space PRICE space IS space RIGHT period.

Also lets break it down some more...Rick Nash scored more goals than everyone you mentioned COMBINED last year.

On top of that 4 of those players you mentioned will not be back this year.

Give it a rest.

Thanks for making my point about the perponderance of older/ aging / downside/ slowing down/ lost a step/ Vets , yep about 70% of them will have the same adjectives next to their name as you listed.

How many goals does NASH pot on the Sabres Team last year?

P.S. I would love to bring NASH here for a reasonable offer IF HE WANTS TO COME....big if....

Gionta is fine for third line
Moulson fringe second line

everyone else, meh

the need for proven top end vet talent is what is needed to infuse with eichel, reinhart, risto, and z
