He was the best forward on a team that made the ECF and won the Presidents Trophy this year and helped our team reach the SCF last year. 42 goals last year for us and had 21 goals in the lockout year (39 goal pace over 82 games) and had 26 goals in it games last year (33 goal pace).

the sabres had Thomas vanek: 25, 43, 36 and 40 goals from 2005-06 to 2008-09...they made the ecf in consecutive seasons those first two when they had a #1 center...they were middling after briere (and drury, #2 center) left...buffalo has a #1 center there for the taking...they've learned their lesson

I know they're not the Stanley Cul but the Presidents Trophy and Prince of Wales Trophy are actually tangible trophies that a team WINS and are signs of SUCCESS.

None of that means S$$T to me, the only one that does, is the one the Hawks help up for the 3rd time in 6 years.

Of course not. Teams who haven't won poop for decades if ever will always use the "there's only 1 award that truly matters and everything else is utter failure" excuse to try and level the gap between their team and whatever team they're putting down.

I mentioned last week the Sabres had some interest in Yandle, Yandle not Nash. Why would anyone think the Rangers would move Nash.

what does buffalo stand to gain from that? the whole hook behind getting kane is his age fitting in with the timeline of the rebuild, Nash would be the exact opposite.

Well if you're trying to bring up logical trade proposals then why would the Rangers trade Nash for picks and prospects? How do their age fit with the Rangers timeline of trying to win now?

They wouldn't, this is nothing more than pure speculation and perhaps even click-bait work by friedman. The only reason this is being discussed is because it came from him.

don't get me wrong, I like nash...but i'd rather have a younger powerforward with upside...in three years kane will be 26 yrs. old and just entering his prime...nash will be 34 and on the downside of his career...

imo...keep kane, Eichel, et al...and in three years if the sabres need a top-six/nine scoring forward, go after nash july 1, 2018

Good one. But....

I swear you are the one making power moves and setting lineups.

We should trade Reinhart for Crosby straight up.

I didn't know having the second overall pick from last years draft as your #2 center was a "power move", in fact Reinhart is the ideal 2nd line center but you can think what you want to think.

As interesting as it is to speculate a trade for Rick Nash, if Glen Sather wants a roster player in return, I doubt he looks at Buffalo as an ideal trade partner, unless he has an infatuation with Tyler Ennis.

I actually brought this up a few weeks ago
They don't HAVE to move Nash, but due to bad playoffs two years in a row, they might chose to trade him so they don't have to lose 2-3 younger guys they have to pay this offseason
They prob don't want to move anyone,
But they've also got serious Cap issues
