I'd love that third line!

I really do think a deal with Vancouver is the way to go. Benning is exactly the type of GM that would overvalue Sutter. Remember he is the one that really pushed for Boston to trade Seguin.

Also Vancouver is woefully without in terms of young dmen, they may overpay to get one.

Vrbata is not a bad player, but dont anyone think playing with Malkin or Crosby inflates his points, he played most of the year with the Sedins and those two are set up machines.

I suggested Sutter + Pouliot for Hamhuis + Kassian + Jensen the other day and I still think it is a good swap, replaces Pouliot with another very good puck moving dman.

Maybe Vrbata + Kassian + Shatenkirk for Sutter + Pouliot would be better but then we are looking for a top 4 dman.

Everyone who is itching to say no trading Pouliot, I get it.... But we all need to realize that any trade of substance is going to hurt a little... Pouliot is the player that hurts the least IMO.

Hockeysfuture spring prospect rankings, just to get an idea of how highly rated of a prospect he is.

5. Larkin
6. Nurse
7. Pouliot
8. Gibson
9. Draisaitl
10. Teravainen

That's the type of players he's being mentioned around. If you are going to trade him, you need to get a very significant long-term return.

After wasting 40 minutes of my life reading through this message thread try and remember a couple things:
1) Semin is terrible at any price there is no conceivable reason to get him on this team. His ship has sailed in the NHL and he's best suited to go back to the KHL and play for one of the teams that can't pay their players and have planes that don't pass many safety protocols.

2). If you trade Pouliot, Maatta, Dumoulin etcetera then you no longer have Pouliot, Maatta, Dumoulin etcetera on your team.

3) Remember that the Penguins already have a Mike Reily in their system. Jeff Taylor was 5th in NCAA scoring last year for defenseman and is a very nice looking prospect.

4) Teddy Blueger NEEDS to be signed soon or the Penguins lose him to free agency and that would be a travesty. He has a very nice 2 way game that would compliment Sundquist for years to come. He should be a priority.

5) Brandon Sutter will get a decent return but nothing too ridiculous.

6) injuries are the single biggest thing that has beat this team the last 5 seasons, bringing an older player in to this cursed organization is asking for trouble.

7) A Shawn Mathias, Zach Kassian, Blake Coumeau third line sounds beyond perfect for an Eastern conference team. Can we get this done because it would be outstanding?

i feel like we dont hear enough about this kid. to just totally have a second round pick not sign is (frank)ing mickey mouse level. it wouldnt surprise me with how things have been going for the pens development system, but come on. even if the guy is a bust, i hope they sign him just to avoid the fiasco.

i feel as though he would still be one of the more promising forward prospects even if you forcefully amputated one of his legs.

Absolutely, you need to get a like kind forward in return.

Gonna be a very interesting next month or so. Got to be honest, I'm a little nervous that Ruthy is going to be shaping Sid and Geno's final "prime" years.

put his brain into letang's body, and you probably have one of the top handful of defenders of all time.

Shero had way too many minor league forwards either under contract or needing one last off-season. We ended up with 14F signed to NHL deals at WBS and that doesn't include Kapanen, Sundqvist, or guys like Sheary, Kostopolis, and Rowney who all had top 9 roles on AHL deals. They ended up not having a contract to offer Bluegger and now have to sweat it out.

That's what prioritizing the right things looks like. It's no coincidence that CHI has won 3 titles this decade and PIT has 0 wins after the 2nd round. CHI relies on data and PIT has no personnel system to speak of. Just monkeys throwing stuff at walls in the hopes that something sticks. Keep prioritizing the intangibles and it'll be more of the same for PIT.

Tampa had 1 powerplay from the start of 2nd period in game 4 until that one called at end of game. Such a joke of a game, series and league!

I live in the Chicago area and people who haven't watched a game this year (including the playoffs) making a huge deal out of it. Someone asked what position Keith plays
