Not fallacy. It's 2 examples that I pointed out and I said I'm nervous about his idea of what a good defensemen is.

Let's also not forget he traded away a guy who impressed LA last season as well

- sbroads24

Are you talking about McNabb? There was a reason LA didn't make the playoffs and I don't think it was due to the forwards and goalie.

What's to learn though? Cowen held out and it was TM's responsibility to get him on board before the season began. He was almost forced to pay him more than what they thought he was worth. I mean, this is no Ville Leino contract or Brad Richards contract, but it's not that great either. 3.1 million is hardly that harmful to a cap. His contract is based on how he was developing like Hodgson or JVR or whatever. Sometimes, more often than not, the guys keep progressing. Yet sometimes, guys don't. That's no ones fault really, just is what it is. Sometimes you hit, sometimes you miss, and a good GM can't be afraid to make mistakes. Anyone who's good at their job has made mistakes, learned from it and figured out ways to avoid those mistakes again.

A bad move is a bad move. It was a bad pick, then a bad contract. It happens. I expect Murray to pick a bust here and there in Buffalo. He will also give out bad contracts like all of them do.

Matt Moulson was a bad contract
Eric Cornel and Karabacek look like bad picks.

It happens

McNabb was very good. Which surprised me because I was never a big fan

And btw. Bogo was brought in to ultimately be a middle pairing Dman. He does that well enough. Good luck trading for a young top 2 guy.

We may need to at some point unless Zadorov or McCabe overachieve.

Opinions vary, I only saw him 5 or 6 times last year, did absolutely nothing for me.

I think that's a big leap, he was GM in Binghamton, I think ran scouting but his uncle was head honcho
- GilPerreault11

He was very involved from what I remember reading.

Protected minutes for most of the time this year, i don't know how well he'd do taking on a tougher role/matchup.

Yea obviously he needs a bigger sample size, but he seems to be better than I thought he would be

Moulson is here for leadership, top 6 scoring (hopefully that goes up with a real center) and will be almost gone when we're good.

Cornel and Karabacek are project picks like mostly everyone past pick 30. Absolutely unfair to say they look like bad picks.

And we're not gonna sit here and pretend McNabb is better than Bogosian are we

I didn't say McNabb was better.

I think we have to wait and see how Hudson Fasching is going to be before we evaluate that trade. The Sabres needed skill and size up front and hopefully they got it in that trade.

It's going to come down to the impact of Deslauriers and Fasching vs McNabb, Alex Lintuniemi, and this year's pick 43. Depending on what that pick is this year, I'd say so far our side has the better deal.

Not really, because you can't guarantee we would have picked Lintunieni or whoever the Kings pick at 43.

Lets hope. Konecny looks good.
- sbroads24

I'll be happy with any of Konecny, Roy, Kylington or Samsonov
Or if we use that pick to trade for a young goalie like Allen or Gibson, but I'd rather move a 2nd & 3rd than a 1st if possible

True but we have a hole at RW for this season and like in Michael's blog the order is going Bap, Bailey, Fash, Rodriguez. None of which are NHL ready or even have played a single professional game at the AHL level. We need someone on the second line RW for this year. Will pick 21 be part of a trade for that? Will Grig or Hodgson be part of that? But someone needs to fill that hole.
- sskkoo1

Will it be Grigorenko or Hodgson possibly?
I think we can play Hodgson there & he'll score 20 goals again.
Then we'll actually be able to trade him for something decent, or at least use him as part of a package to get something decent.

I'd be ok if Grigorenko went to the KHL for a couple years to continue developing & get good playing time. Could be the best thing for him in the long run. I believe we hold his rights for 5 more years

I wasn't really a fan of those picks
I'd be psyched if we could use them as part of a trade, but neither had too good of a season

All it takes is 1 GM who liked them previously. But like I said it happens, Darcy got ripped for bad drafting, Murray will too if the team doesn't do well. Comes with the territory

If Fasching doesn't end up being a top6, 20+ goal scorer then I'll hate that trade
I always envisioned McNabb-Pysyk being one of the best 3rd pairs in the league
McNabb's physical style could've meshed perfectly with a smooth player like Pysyk
And I really don't know that Fasching will end up being better than Bailey &/or Baptiste.
It's water under the bridge at this point, but that's how I saw it anyways

Ya, that's fair
all picks will work out either, that's just the way it goes
Although it does seem that just about everyone Chicago has taken keeps working out for them
They consistently trade away or let their 2-3rd line guys move on & then replace them
Extremely impressive what the Bowman's have done there

I expect them to be very good again next year as well
Guys like Shaw, Terravainen & Kruger taking on bigger roles
McNeil (who I wanted us to draft), looks ready to come up and play a nice role for them too

Also kessel gave 8 teams he will accept a trade.

Montreal, philly, Pitt, NYR, Boston, Chicago, LA and ninny

Looks like Toronto fans won't get their wet dream of a top 5 pick or some teams former top 5 pick for kessel. I could maybe see philly out of those teams but not what Toronto fans were looking to see
