I don't think he is either but i also don't think there's much he can do. Just cuz you have money to burn and a shiny new toy doesn't mean that all of sudden top tier free agents (if you can really call them that at this point) and players with no trade clauses are going to want to come here.

I think adding a top 6 winger, a top 4 d man and solving the goalie situation is obtainable

which goes a long way to competing and can probably be fixed with 1 or 2 trades and a free agent or 2

If guy is a dog 98% of the time you can officially call him a dog. Haven't we seen enough of guys like that to know?

Honestly, I think only the last one is.

Find me the true top 6 winger available right now that would come here? Eberle? doubt it. Nash? probably not. Williams? going to a playoff team.

Top 4 d-man could be had but do you really want to be paying guys like martin or franson long term money?

Why? last august the consensus was we weren't tanking because moulson was an upgrade and nolan would bring stability.

Unless something big changes there isn't much out there that's useful for this team. A lot of cases where the best move is the one you didn't make.

PS I would wait a year before I toss Hodge.

you don't trade for kane
tank for eichel
and hire a big price coach to strive to be closer to 16th in the east then the top 8

Agreed. They flipped the switch.

Aug 15 is very different than Aug 14. (NOTE: August '14 we hired Ted Nolan. Aug '15 we made two plays for two of the highest regarded coaches in all of Hockey).

I didn't say they were trying to tank, im saying they're not going to sell the farm or give out a huge contract to players past it just to get close to 8th next year. I was skeptical before but the last two interviews make me more sure of that.

Félix Hernández: 1/3 IP, 8 ER. Tied for both fewest IP in a start and and most earned runs allowed in his career

I think he knew from day 1 that Myers was going to be moved. He may have been coy at times but other times his words showed exactly how he felt about Myers.

I think we stay the course and let the young kids grow.

Touche, but kane was on the block. It's not like they made a trade for someone we never thought would be made available. Plus it's not like kane had a choice.

What about Chris Stewart? True, he was awful the first two months of the year but he was their best player for a good stretch of time. He is fairly young, won't cost you any assets and fits the experience profile that so many here female dog about. He isn't my favorite guy but I'd rather get a decent guy off of the street than trade for a vet.
