EK said it so........................... he's not coming to Buffalo.

Would you hate Nash coming to buffalo more than I would hate Dopey coming here?

BTW, Ek predicted Tampa winning the cup if they ended up beating MTL. Womp womp

Problem is there's no one available that would fit that category. Any player on the market right now acquired using that pick would be a big overpayment from us.

By comparison, the first seguin deal got the leafs an incredible goal scorer and even that deal was scrutinized for a half decade.

The impression i got from the WGR guys after their interview with Murray is that it's unlikely we see that kind of deal this summer.

Agreed.

I just want to see Murray get a top-6 RW. That's really it. Maybe a veteran defenseman. Not too worried about goalie since this franchise has never had a problem finding them, and Irbe seems like a wizard.

I really don't buy into the irbe theory anymore but at this point im not sure goaltending should be the big concern either.

I'm curious to see what they do with grigs though. I think he'll get moved for a d-man at similar age or situation. Or maybe they'll use 21 to do that. Could get Merrill or Gelinas from New Jersey.

there isn't a better D=-man in free agency this year....I wouldn't want to give up the prospects and picks it would take to get a guy as good as Erhoff. He checked out a bit when we went into rebuild mode. i dont blame him for that after we sold him on being a contender. But he is still a very good defenseman when he is into the game. He showed that in Pitt.

I don't hate Nash, ROR fits better into what Murray is trying to do.

I dont hate him either, I just have seen for many years that he cant do it all o his own, therefore he would need more players around him than we have.
And ROR I can get 40 points without having to give that much up

pretty expensive for the next 3 years. Although he would be the best player on the sabres by a long shot.
Prolly cost a lot to get him too.

Salary
2015-16 $7,900,000
2016-17 $8,000,000
2017-18 $8,200,000

Cap hit 7.8m

It depends how desperate they are to get rid of him. It could be done cheaper, or maybe they take Cody as a buyout candidate to save on cap space. Murray can get creative with it if the Rangers are willing to playball.

With all the high prospects we have they could want a ransom from us. Your right though. he might be considered a dump. High productivity for that imo.

Not resigning St. Louis

They have 9.5 space avail

RFA-UFA's
Stepan...4.5 -5.5
Hagelin...3.0
Sheppard 1.8
Fast 1.2

Totally. It's a crapshoot. I wouldn't overpay because of the cap situation he could put us in. He will be a great addition, but the cost has to be right.

Depending on who they are putting emphasis on, they could need a lot of help money wise.

It's looking like it . Nash would be a big relief. but would also hurt their production too.

Similar to us losing Vanek.

Nash won't waive to come here, not a chance.

So Hodgson wasn't in shape to start last season and makes $4+? He stinks. And now he has Claude Lemieux as his agent, Brendan's dad? Buy him out. Kinda sounds like Murray already made up his mind. Use that money to sign Frolik.

31 for Lack and re-sign Lindback.

Our D is very young so I wouldn't mind a vet D man signed. Oduya, Franson come to mind. Maybe we try for Sekera.

Offer sheet Stepan.

GO!

Definitely. Putting Nash with either Eichel or Reinhart could be pretty awesome though.

I could buy into this. That's a lot of moves to make, but Murray is savvy enough to do it. I think having a 1a-1b with Lack and Lindback like we started the year last year would be a great way to get a competition going and then ride the hot hand.

Where does Frolik slot? Is he consistent enough for a top-6 or do you still put Gionta there and Frolik on the 3rd?
