Who was 1st and 2nd?

Don't tell me Bozie...

- Woderwick

Cody Donaghy, Connor Brown and Phil Kessel were the top three in training camp. No mention on order, but if it was given in order then Donaghy and Brown

No way in hell do I want the Leafs to take back salary for the next 6 and 7 years.

A bad contract for 2-3 years? Fine. No eating of those contracts though.

- RogerRoeper

I didn't say 'retain' salary dude. I said 'take back' meaning receive, as in a player with a bad contract.

No I think the Leafs would get a great return on Kessel.

I think you're the one undervaluing other aspects of the game (aspects that Phil Kessel doesn't possess)

- Pecafan Fan

he possesses them, just not enough to be playing with Blozak and JVR

Sign Mike Reilly. Rielly-Reilly pairing will be sick.
- AdamFrench

I think that's a given.

That will be the sales pitch to the FA Mike Reilly come August... you get to play with a guy who has kinda the same name...

awesome

unfortunately this is probably true.. and might just be an indicator of why the Leafs have had management issues in the past

this probably just means they went through the tests first.

Phil needed to get outta there and back to the condo for CoD or other video game.

amen.

besides... Phaneuf at 7M versus Orpik at 5.5.... look at what Petry signed for in MTL...

Phaneuf's contract is not THAT out of line.

Kessel's contract definitely not out of line.

Yup. He's the best at taking the puck, trying to skate out, turn around, try again, get to the blue line and stop, lose the puck, try to skate back to defend the odd man rush. He makes it look effortless.

You know who had the best Corsi of all time? Jason Blake.

- AdamFrench

it would be hilarious to know if that was true.

Blake would get all that credit for possession time circling and circling before firing off one of the little - girl like (yes I said little girl like) wrist flips that would hit the sleeping goaltender in the logo.

the really sad part of the Leafs signing Blake was I believe that his arrival was the last straw in Sundin leaving.

Even I have a better wrist shot than Blake, and I'm 4'11! I know this has been said once or twice before, but what a terrible signing.

At 4mil he was a steal in hindsight btw. If he was a UFA now he would get 6mil

seriously, one of my absolute favourite Youtube hockey clips... Sundin absolutely destroying Blake while back-checking on him.

sums up a lot of things... how many guys did Sundin really try and hit hard... not many ... and he was a pretty huge guy... for him to skate back catch Blake and crush him...
he (Sundin) must have seriously dislike the guy... which I completely understand.

The Blake signing (while not Burke) was typical of the Burke era...

i) American (check)
ii) massively overated (check)
iii) no real heart (check)
iv) overpaid - massively (check)
v) underachieved .... oh yeah

substitute Komisarek, Connolly ... the shoe fits.

I think the Leafs will take salary back on any deal involving either player. Phaneuf because he's overpaid for what he brings and Kessel because of straight up economics in a cap world, just to make the deal work on the other end.
- Phenom

you think the leafs will be eating salary for the next 7 years on both guys to move them?

doubtful. maybe a mil or so on phaneuf, but they will clearly rather take back a bad contract for a couple years
