49/7 is half of 104/12?

That's news to me. Since when is 7 almost half of 8.7?

- burn

It isn't. "Is being paid" refers to size of pay check... Amount is IS currently being paid.

Yes. $12M is almost twice as much as $7M. I was generalizing.

And if we look at the actually years when RoR's deal would start its 50% more, which still seems fine to me.

- Big_Lightnin

Cherry picking years and ignoring length? Not the best way to compare.... Compare the entire contract (that Marty did by comparing 49 to 104)

Isn't cap hit more important to a team than actual cash in a given year?

7 mil per for ROR is a lot if cheddar any way you slice it.
And he will probably make 10 mil over the first couple years.

- GardinerExpress

Players don't give a rats ass about cap hit.

And I never said it wasn't... But compared to money being paid to Crosby, it's about right.

Can someone explain to me why Gardiner keeps getting mentioned as some great trading piece we have? The article suggests he could be the key to a deal... am I the only one who thinks he sucks? He was awful last year, even beyond awful. I don't care about his stats, he just sucked.... Do the Ave management not watch hockey that they would even consider taking him for ROR? Is 4 million plus good for a defensemen who can't defend?

Why would I compare the entire contract when RoR can't sign a contract like that. It's apples and oranges.

And not sure how I am cherry picking years, I used the current year because that is what he is making, and I used the actual years of RoR's future contract...

his fancy stats are pretty awesome. He makes a lot of good plays... only problem is he also makes a bunch of bone-headed ones. Still, the benefits outweigh the negatives with him.

Lets see what Babcock can do with him. Leafs shouldn't be trading anyone for ROR.

Been a lot of Phaneuf/Kessel talk recently, so here's your semiannual reminder that the Leafs really need to trade Tyler Bozak.

Stastny is overpaid. Weber is not
- GardinerExpress

that is utterly irrelevant. we're discussing existing contract value, not what we think they should be paid.

God bless Al Gore for creating the internet so anonymous posters can argue and insult each other over anything.

first 7 years of Crosby's contract, he makes 76.8M.

As opposed to 49 in the rumoured contract ROR would want.

That's the type of contract Crosby would have got if back-diving wasn't allowed when he signed.

Comparing the cap-hits is stupid, because of that.

Stop being dense.

The latest one out there is Leafs trading Dion and the 4th for ROR and the 10th

Heard Blundell drop that one this morning, with little to no substance to it, admittedly

I wouldn't mind trading down if there was still a high likelihood of grabbing Barzal... but 10 is too low.

9:19 am and there's already heated arguments? Is it always this lively in the comment sections? If so, I'm going to like it here.
