Allen, Vasilevskiy, Gibson (don't know if any will be available)
Haven't seen enough from jones yet, every LA goalie looks good
I do like Bernier a lot also actually

The guys we had last year have a big enough sample size that says they shouldn't even be STARTERS, let alone have the ability to actually take us anywhere in the playoffs

- jdfitz77

I'm not worried about our Goaltender for the next two years, GMTM should be patient and wait for the right opportunity to acquire the right guy for our developing team.

I don't know why it is a given fact that Lindback could not play average this coming year. He played really well, I know Nolan plays a system that allows Goaltenders to see a lot of puck but Lindback has had talent and its been surprising for every team he's played with that he hasn't played well, he NEEDED to show up this past year for his career and he did. I can't see any harm in bringing him back where he feels comfortable and knows the players. He would be cheap, comfortable and we can trade for a Journeymen back up for now.

WE ARE NOT GOING TO PAY A GOALIE over $4 Million until this team starts to develop its identity, which will give Murray time fo wait for an opportunity to grab a Top quality tender.

Once again, after the top 4 the next grouping is large and almost completely indistinguishable from each other. By your logic I could go get Howard because he has won and makes a lot so he must be good.

You'd rather have Enroth than Howard or Crawford?
That's nuts

The guys I just said we should trade for are not "sure things"

And you're saying teams like the Hawks shouldn't have paid their "Crawfords" and should've just went with an Enroth?

Well, no offense, but I'm gonna side with the Hawks on that one
And every other NHL team agrees with me too

Yes, it's optimal to develop a young goalie that u draft
But when he has success,
U pay him
Unless u have another young goalie that can jump in for cheaper
But that doesn't happen often

- jdfitz77

I've never said you shouldn't pay a good one. I'm just saying that I am against paying them before they are good. Anyone we get will be someone unproven so there is no point in betting a big contract. Like running backs they grow on trees.

15 of the 16 opening night playoff opening night starters had not won a cup. Chicago was sitting their cup winner in favor of someone that was recently in the ECHL.

I didn't say that. You said that Enroth and Neuvirth weren't even starter material and I said there was reason to be believe otherwise. I'd take Crawford over Enroth.

We don't need to pay a goalie that much NOW
but if we say, trade for Gibson, and he works out, then we eventually will have to

Gibson is a great prospect. Also unproven and would cost you a first.

But he makes 6mil and that's a bad idea to pay a goalie that much?

It's just the going rate for good goalies
I don't want to pay that, but eventually we will HAVE to

I'm ok with that
I'm not ok with some scrub as our starter

Sure, when the time comes. If we had a stud here today I would pay him. We don't know of such a person so I don't need to worry about paying that salary. We'll be fine.

They have proven that
My evidence?
What team do they start for?
The only one that even have them a chance was one of the worst teams in the past 20 years
Those guys are decent backup
Not playoff winning goalies

Lehner was at one point Gibson. You're still paying a heavy price (in picks or salary) for an unproven commodity.

One last note before heading off - that Bio on Derek Sanderson looks fantastic. DVR is set for midnight.

It's a risk
But it's either that, or trade for a guy like Elliott or Anderson or sign a Niemi
Either way,
We either pay salary, or prospects/picks

My point remains that we need a GOOD goalie

I could win with Elliott or Anderson, and they would cost less than the others mentioned.

At first I thought the commercials were some kind of spoof as they didn't seem real. Looking forward to it.

What goalie UFA's are avail 15-16 ? Team might be more inviting after a season. I'm sure other teams notice what we have and will be playing in the next 2 years,

Im excited .

Posters on Mike's blogs tend to be very "Hockey Wise" , while we may have different opinions on some players, I can't for the life of me figure out why this conversation is taking place at this moment in our rebuild. It makes no sense as 89 has said numerous times. When the team is playing well and our youth begins to live up to expectations, we should have this discussion. I'm not against paying a Good proven Goaltender 4-6Million but ITS NOT THE TIME.

Almost every playoff team is good all around

If the guys we had last year are capable starters...
Then how come they don't start?
Anywhere?
Oh wait, they did... For a handful of game for the worst team in the league.
If they were really as good as Howard or Fleury or whatever other overpriced goalies u think is average...
Then why aren't they getting the chance to start?
Wouldn't it just make sense for all these teams to NOT PAY a guy 6mil and sign Lindback?
Maybe the Caps will do that with Holtby
If they're stupid, that is

I think it is a sign that things are trending up. I couldn't care less who our 3rd line RW is and I certainly couldn't care less who is in goal next year. We will have options and it will work itself out. In 2 years both spots will have different guys and that is perfectly fine.
