maybe SJ, colorado - I see Phi and Columbus making playoffs next year.
9 / 10 for 4th overall plus a pick 10-14 2016 might be worth it, especially if the guy Leafs want at 4 is already picked by Arizona.

That said, there might be a gap between the guys at 3-7 (Strome-Hanifin-Marner-Provorov-Barzal in my book at least) and 8-15 (Crouse-Rantanen-Zacha etc.).

In a few years from now, it might result that a guy picked 12 or 16 might be 3/4/5th best player of this draft, but the guys at 3-7 will all almost certainly be (very) good picks with less risk then the guys behind #7.

It seems a team in the 8/9/10 range receiving the same kind of offer (1st 2016 + a pick in 14-20ovr range 2015) is more likely to accept such a deal than the Leafs the deal you mentioned; just too hard to pass up on Strome/Marner/Hanifin.

The av's have franchise centers in Duchene and Mackinnon, but pretty weak on D.
Mackinnon due for a huge raise after this year, can they afford 7 on ROR?
Gardiner+24th overall probably gets it done, I hope the leafs don't target ROR though

That's definitely worth consideration. I'm not so sure any of those teams would offer that, especially with how the lottery will work next year, but I'd say it might be too sweet to pass up. Depends on who they're targeting I guess.

He's a fringe player, 25 years old that I don't think colorado or any team would even want. I doubt he'll be included in any deal like that. He certainly doesn't sweeten the pot. He'll be a career AHLer in all likelihood.

Makes me nervous to give up 4 but I guess I agree with Philly. They should suck next year. probably depends on whether we pick up 2015 or 2016 firsts for Phil/Dion
