I've been to the draft party a few years. Wasn't a fan the last time (2011) so I haven't gone back. Instead of showing what was going on at the draft, they were doing interviews with Kevin Sylvester and all those guys. I listen to them enough during the season. I didn't want to listen to them jabber on more.

Agreed. Ideally, I just want to find a bar, watch it, then maybe flip on wgr after we make a pick/trade.

I was at The Distillery for the 2012 draft in Rochester for their draft party and that was a lot of fun. It was hosted by the Amerks, great beer/wing specials, prizes, no WGR and full volume of NHL network.

That's what I keep hearing. I mean, if you're gonna go there knowing full well they have that entire panel of Sabres personalities, I guess you can't expect to hear much of the national coverage.

I think I'd rather sit down at a bar and watch it, hopefully at the 716.

- TheSabresTaco

People here last year had mentioned how they don't show the coverage, so I went in knowing that. I still enjoyed myself sitting there watching it, listening to Sylvester, Ray, Peters, Biron, Baker, etc.

It sounds like they're doing a bit more this year as it mentioned a "Kid's Combine" on the floor.

I still remember though watching Florida's pick, and once whoever made it said "From the Ontario Hockey League" I was very happy (and found it funny at the delay others needed to realize it meant not-Reinhart)

There were a few of us from on here that met up last year to watch a good portion of the 1st round. Went to MacGregor's. I'd have to say that was much more fun than the draft party the last time I went.

As far as 716 goes, that place is probably going to be mobbed. It's not somewhere I'd want to be.

I'm also super miffed at my best friend who decided that getting married on the first day of the draft next year was a good idea. He's currently my least favorite person.

Oh that's pretty cool. I'd do that. So I assume they show it yearly?

First time I have been able to comment in a while. Saw 89 comment on Yandle and I didn't think he would be available. At the mention of him, what are people's thoughts on Yandle and Hagelin for 21st, 51st, McCabe, Possler, and another prospect

I would imagine. I think someone called to make sure they would have it on. They also had the volume on so you could hear it. We've gone there for games as well, so we kind of knew what to expect for the most part.

I think the Rangers would just hang up without actually saying anything. It would be one thing if it was just Yandle, but they're going to want a decent amount for both him and Hagelin and I don't think a bunch of picks/prospects are going to get it done.

I don't really see a use for Hagelin on this team.

As for Yandle, he could be a huge boost. I haven't really thought about what I would offer. He comes in at a low cap hit because of his retained salary by Arizona. Not that it really matters that much. I'd just be careful what I would offer for him because he only has one year left on his contract. Hell, I don't even think they'd be interested in moving him before the TDL, and that's if he sounded unwilling to re-sign.

Hypothetically, what would I give up from your offer? 21, McCabe, Possler/Olafsson.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I used to go there all the time in Rochester.. like, all the time. Now that I'm back in Buffalo, I've been there maybe 4 times since 2009.
So I'll keep that place in mind for sure.

No problem. I don't think I've actually been there since the draft last year myself. But I live in South Buff, so anything further north than Depew is further than I'd like to go these days. It's a long drive if you've had a few so I tend to stick a bit closer to home.

Moving is no fun. Seriously, do yourself a favor and just pay someone else to move your big stuff. It's well worth it.

Hire movers. No lie. I moved from my 3rd floor apartment (no elevator) to my house yesterday.

Some of the best money I ever spent.

Of course it was 94 degrees with 90% humidity. Also had a sever thunderstorm with torrential rain roll through.

Sucked for the movers......

Been in my house since 98 . Leaving the kids there and bought one for me and Rene in Wheatfield.
So leaving a bunch of appliances and furniture for them.

Yeah, I saw that. But seriously, movers are the way to go. Even if you just have them do the big furniture you're taking and do the boxes by yourself it still makes it that much easier.

We actually used thumbtack.com and got quotes from several different companies.

Went with the middle of the road guys who got the best reviews.

I love Girgensons as much as the next guy but I'd take Landeskog over him in a heartbeat. Its not even close, even if he puts up similar numbers.
- DynamicThreads

How is it not even close if Girgensons puts up similar numbers when you know Girgensons brings all the other intangibles to his game already?

Could, but not there yet. I like Girg but he needs to putting up bigger numbers on a consistent level soon. This season should be big for him taking the next steps in his development. Should start to really see what he is all about since he is getting close to 200 NHL games of experience
- DDM-Coga

I think he will be close to that.

Remember that his time in the NHL with the Sabres has been spent playing with near total garbage on the ice.

Yotes could be moving sooner than expected:

"After talking with team ownership, city officials announced Tuesday night they will hold a special meeting Wednesday to discuss and possibly act to have Glendale’s manager and attorney cancel the services and arena lease agreement."

Based on what the article says, it sounds to me like Glendale really just doesn't want them there. At this point, they're better off to just cut their losses and move elsewhere, though I don't know what city has an arena readily available offhand.
