I doubt Marner survives their pick. They seem to have a thing for London Knights.
- Tomahawk

And they could use Marner (and his gaudy numbers) as a selling point to STHs, etc.....

Phoenix could use a marquee guy in this draft, I would think.
- johndewar

They absolutely do. They need another piece bad. I think they're silly not to take Hanifin or Marner. If they take Strome 3rd overall over either of them, they're just nutty.

Domi, Duclair, Perlini, Samuelsson, Dauphin....talk about a team stocked with stud forward prospects.

Marner, Dvorak and Domi... they would have the Knights' entire dynamic first-line... that would be fun to build a marketing campaign around.

Lazy. Think of MJL and the afternoon crowd.
Come on, and full page worth of discussion on Crouse...that's prime 2Real ignorant rant material right there.

Completely forgot about Christian Dvorak. Man, the Yotes are going to be a serious problem in another 3 years time.

Provorov. But if Barzal is there, I think that's my top pick. Wouldn't mind Crouse or Rantanen or Zacha, but I think Barzal is both fairly safe AND has strong upside.
- bmeltzer

I think the feeling for the last number of weeks/months has been Barzal and then Provorov should both players still be on the board. Collecting defense with high potential is great but at some point the Flyers really should look into a possible replacement for Giroux. Right now it isn't a real concern at the moment but it's something we shouldn't put off either.

If we took Crouse right now, I think he fills a need but could be a number of season until he's a front line player on an NHL roster, if ever.

Yes they could, if they have a goalie. Mike Smith is 33 and isn't getting any younger. If he can bounce back and a bunch of their forward prospects pan out, they could be an issue.

"His numbers I don’t think tell you the whole picture of what type of player he is. That’s no criticism of Kingston there, but Sam Bennett was hurt all year. I know it’s easy to say anybody can play with Sam Bennett, but Lawson is the guy… he goes to the net, he’s a big body, he skates. Like I said, he’s a protypical power forward. I don’t think people realize… he had a really good year. Numbers sometime don’t give you the whole picture."

I don't follow potential draftees because, well, I just don't. I'll leave it at that.

While reading what Bill wrote about this Crouse kid I started thinking about Tim Kerr. Big, goes to the net, get the puck there and he'll figure out the rest. That doesn't sound so terrible to me.

But wtf do I know? I say this, though. Tim Kerr was undrafted so wtf does anyone know?

Az's problem is they still lack that true franchise center. I think they'd be dummies not to choose strome lol Their defense, and defensive prospects are great. OEL is clearly already great, stone looked pretty good this past season, murphy looks like he'll be solid. John moore & dahlbeck look good too. I think AZ's first priority should be finding their franchise center, and then if they can, upgrade their goalie situation from there.

There are 12 guys I would be happy with with the 7th pick. I've seen everyone in that 12 play at least one game and I've watched highlights on all of them. OB has watched as much or more, and our ratings/opinions are similar on most if not all of them.

Obviously, McDavid and Eichel are a different level than the rest. The hype has been backed up by the play of both. They are unobtainable without a massive trade.

Strome and Marner had huge seasons and deservedly get rated as the next highest forwards. Hanifin was high all year long and Provorov is the fast riser. Crouse has been rated high all along. Barzal's stock fell due to the injury and the staggering production of Strome and Marner in the OHL.

Zacha and Rantanen are both big, skilled wingers. Zacha could be an absolute beast. Werenski is the guy I have seen the least of, but he had a really impressive year in the NCAA and is among the youngest players in the class. Timo Meier had a great and productive season and might be the most natural goal scorer of the bunch.

There's just such a mass of talent, there's really not a "bad" pick

The Coyotes could possibly trade back and still have a shot at Barzal, who might end up as good or even better than Strome. They have some options and there's a few teams that have top 10 picks that are reportedly looking to trade up.

I think I'd like to see a list from you and ob10 of who you would compare each player to within your top 10.
