If you're talking about this morning, that wasn't an ad. That was someone quoting a post with a long unbroken link in it. I fixed it.
- bodiva88

No I was talking about sometimes- when I click to get to the comments, when the comments page loads, the 2 or 3 ads that are on the page normally, are taking up 1/2 of the comments section so I can't read what everyone is commenting about. Usually if I exit my browser and go back to HB like 4 or 5 times it goes away, but just kind of annoying.

Some of them defy straight comparisons. You hear Crosby for McDavid, and some say Eric Staal for Zacha, I've heard Marner is similar to Giroux or maybe Patrick Kane.

To attempt it, and give kind of a "best case scenario" for each:

McDavid-Crosby(it's not exact, but he's got the same kind of vision and playmaking ability)

Eichel- The one I keep coming back to is Joe Thornton, but there's a bit of the flash of Kane to his game.

Strome- A pass first Jeff Carter or a more willing to shoot version of Henrik Sedin. Size wise he's more like Carter, style wise more like Sedin.

Marner-Kane or Giroux is pretty apt.

Hanifin & Provorov- I think that the best comparison to both is a guy like Gary Suter

Crouse- He's one of the more difficult ones. He's got elements of guys like Lucic and Simmonds, but he's a better skater and two way player than them.

Barzal- Elements of RNH and even Datsyuk in his game, but the more I think about it, Barzal is like Matt Duchene.

Rantanen-I've seen a few people use Corey Perry, I think he's a bit more Bobby Ryan.

Werenski-Bouwmeester or Pietrangelo are the best comparitives, IMO. He's big, got good skating ability, good skill set and very solid all around. Not overly physical with his size, but is also usually one of the youngest guys on the ice, even in college.

Meier-Reminds me of Joe Pavelski a bit, also see a bit of Kessel in the sheer ability to score goals

You made my day with this list. To switch things up I think this list was needed, especially for guyslike myself who haven't done the homework. I don't want to invest in anyone until after we draft them. Good stuff!

Does anyone remember if Matt Duchene went right to the NHL after being drafted?

Thew work is done for you. You're given a list of very good prospects, and just choosing one off of that list. You aren't going out and doing the road work and identifying those players from scratch like the NHL GM's and scouting departments do.
- MJL

I'm saying I can do as well watching clips, thinking about a strategy, and reading reports. I would trust Jsaq, OB and Tomahawk, to name three, to also have a 10-year list, that's a key, that would yield as many good picks as a team.

What I'm really saying is the real money for a GM is not what they can do in the 1st round picking off their board. It's deciding on a strategy - trading up or down, building a roster, signing or not signing players, trading picks for players, drafting after the 1st round.

I'm not saying I could do any of that. I'm not saying I'm qualified to be a GM. I'm saying I could pick as well as many teams could with publicly available information.

Read some of the replies. Others made good comparisons, too...some were better than a few of mine

Duchene did make an immediate jump to the NHL, scored 55 points as a rookie

Literally grabbed the first screen I saw.

Actually she looks even more hot in the actual scene

Yep. If the issue was strictly with Berube, would it be impossible for Reese to come back? Or do you think that ship has sailed?
- PLindbergh31

If it was just with Berube he sure didn't get support from management. Based on that I'd say the ship is well out to sea with a new port destination.

And yours have verified time stamps? Are they notorized?

A serious question...is there a way to search through archives? Or even better, flag a post for future reference? I know he's using plugins for the site, but that would be pretty cool.

I'd love to find my exact comments the day Morin was drafted, and why I hated the pick then (and still do not like it now).

Yeah, I agree. Why is it we had to wait until she was old before we got to see her naked.

Honestly, I think My Cousin Vinnie is probably in my top 10 all time comedies. Dozens of quotable lines. The dead-on balls accurate scene, and the "are they magic grits" scenes are my favs.

Awesome flick. Oddly enough, according to a friend who is a lawyer, the procedural stuff is very accurate. I figured they played a lot of it up for laughs, but he said that it's pretty much dead on balls accurate

Not that I know of.

I wanted Pulock with that pick, but can only verify it by searching through the post-draft comments, and I don't have the patience for that.

But really, I can send you my spread sheets if you want. I can't verify when they were made, but just take my word on it, and then pay me.

That's too cool. Actually the other great scene in that is the scene where Vinnie visits them in prison "it's me or them. Either way, you're getting (frank)ed".

And the scene where Vinnie's asking if his hunting outfit looks ok "Imagine, you're a sweet little doe-eyed deer".

Man, she really did nail that part.

McDavid: Crosby's brain and hands grafted on to Darren Helm's feet,
Eichel: Mike Modano w/ Corey Perry's shot and slash to the net,
Strome: poor man's Joe Thornton,
Marner: Kane and Giroux mashup,
Provorov: Olli Maatta,
Hanifin: Bouwmeester,
Crouse: Andrew Ladd (plus?),
Werenski: Jack Johnson w/ a brain.

- Tomahawk

I think Andrew Ladd is a very underrated player in this league. He might not make players around him better but his leadership abilities are top notch and I think you need an Andrew Ladd on every team to win a Cup.

yeah, right. and I could seriously use some swamp land in florida. Got any of that too?

You shot too high with that one dude. Not even remotely believable. Zetterberg? Datsyuk?

But feel to write them down now for future reference.- Couturier, Maata, Pulock, Tuch. The jury is still out on all of them. Couts is the same on both lists, Maata right now seems to be a better pick than Laughton. Pulock is closer to the NHL, but too early to call it. And based on the early results, Sanheim seems to be better than Tuch.

did i catch you cheating on facebook ?

I went to a pizza place several times this weekend. I ordered two salads, a tuna and a caesar.

So nope. I've been absolutely perfect. Even my wife and kid are impressed.

I'm just a great GM, and saw their potential when I was scouting Sweden and Russia after I had sent my hand-picked pro scouting team all over the world.

Or I just had a bunch of people on the internet provide me with a list of 45 people and picked the one I liked most based on some editorials and called myself an NHL caliber GM.

Well the personality thing is a "to be determined" thing but if Crouse prides himself in having a balanced game and puts winning first, to me that's close enough.

I love Andrew ladd. I've always thought that he's a criminally underrated player the past 5 or 6 seasons.

My personal opinion, and it's pure speculation, but my gut tells me the rift was between Hextall and Reese, and not between Reese and Berube. I have zero evidence to support it.
