You'd need to find someone who wants Luke though
- PhillySportsGuy

If somehow Holmgren lands as another Organizations GM before the draft, the haul for Luke would be enormous/monstrous/gigantic....

Look how much St. Louis gave up for Paajarvi. Perron was an established, 25 year old and yes, they got back a pick, but Paajarvi was all about potential.

I think Brayden is still viewed as having a lot of upside, and he's young.

- TheGreat28

Schenn still has plenty of potential.

His point totals have improved every single season. Consistency is his issue and he'll work that out with time. I have no doubt that schenn will become a bona fide top 6 forward in the next few seasons.

Challenge accepted. Name the rules and the price

First thing you have to do is get hired as a GM by an NHL team. Good luck!

Could possibly see something like the TB 1st rounder and the San Jose 3rd rounder, plus the Schenns for 16th overall and Montreal's 2nd rounder(obtained in the Petry trade)
- Jsaquella

BSchenn is worth the 16th pick on his own. He's an RFA, and there's no guarantee at all that the 16th pick will ever be a 40 point forward in the NHL.

So then they're trading the 29th/30th, the 70th, and LSchenn for the 57th.

It's a terrible trade for the Flyers.

I agree, and that's why in my hypothetical trade up deal, I was including Laughton instead of Schenn. I think Schenn along with 29/30, based on value, should get you higher than 15-18 but other teams may not want to do that deal because of the perceived upside of the guys ranked higher than 15.

Getting concerned about Oleksiak. He has little left to gain in the AHL at this point but is still really struggling in the NHL.
- bmeltzer

Really, really hope that we aren't saying that about Morin in a 2 years time.

No, I said, if you compared my picks to the actual picks of the team, I believe my 10 year set of picks will compare favorably to the actual picks. So come on, let's bet. I'm dead serious. Let's come up with a way to create a normalized scorecard - they get points for games played, plus-minus, points, whatever. I'll bet $1000, if I think about it, maybe even more. We'll start with the Couturier draft, so we're 4 years into the 10.

If it were me I'd be aggressive in this draft even if it meant taking a step back this season. I'd move both if it helped long term
- PhillySportsGuy

I would, too. I'd consider even "bigger" moves

I'd be surprised if Edmonton-or any of the teams picking between 14-20-would trade that pick for Brayden Schenn alone right now.

Conceptually I agree. But hey, a farmer in a drought thinks every cloud looks like rain. Meaning, these guys are going to see the upside with the players projected for the first round, and suddenly the whole Devil that you know thing goes out the window.

The old Oilers maybe.

Can you imagine trading a guy like Zacha or Meier for Brayden Schenn?

A player I'd be interested in, especially with Tampa's first round pick is Denis Gurynov. Only problem, he has a KHL contract with 2 years left on it. Thoughts?

I think he's gone by then, but if he's there, he'd be really hard to pass up

It would likely become Eminger for Carlson-esque, and I'm a fan of Brayden.

Would you trade up to get him? How much before 29/30 do you estimate he goes? I've seen him mock'd around 27

If the Flyers got into the 17-22 area, I'd pounce on him. If it wasn't for that KHL deal, I think he could be a top 15 guy, easily

I would love to see them take a chance on him if he is still around in the 3rd, maybe even the 2nd round. I just worry about his desire to want to come over the pond.

I'm a fan, but in an idealist as well. If guys like Brayden or Streit get you a top 20 pick, you have to take it

I wouldn't trade up. If he's there he's there, if not plan B.
