I think people are going to be dissapointed when neither ROR or any young "star" under 24 is acquired.
- sbroads24

The only way I see that even being remotely possible is the offer sheet route.

That being said even if the Sabres did offer a player the odds are the other team will match almost every offer.

Nobody wants to pay ROR 7 mill a year well guess what, that will be the going rate for a player like him so people should come to terms with it. No matter if the Sabres pay it or not, it will happen.

why?

serious question

Nash is faster
A proven goal scorer
Showing no signs of decline
1 year less on his deal then Moulson

yeah his point production is down a bit in the playoffs, but so is everyone

The quicker you improve the special teams, the quicker this team wins a playoff series

I would rather have a high priced winger on a short deal with 2 young centers, then have to find ways to fit 4 young d men, 6 young guys up front with their long term contracts all at once

when this team gets good, there will be many briere/drury decisions to make if we are building an entire core 24 and under

just my 2 cents

I was lurking so I had to comment. I think any team that trades for him, thats going to be his new long term home.

He wants the clear defined role in the a teams core and paid for his skill set. On the Sabres, you know he will be long term Top 6. Either Centering the 2nd line behind Eichel or playing Wing on either top 2 lines. Same that he has with he Avs, so that why I dont think he leaves the Avs. He has the perfect situation there too. Just need to make that cap hit work. 6.5m is the right number for both sides in my mind

Well then, follow up post. The thing with the ROR situation is that ever team would probably want that magic 6.5m dollar amount. If he is traded, it is bc he just is way way too much cash bc he has the core role already.

So if a team that is willing to trade for him, has to know they are already prepared to pay that 7m range contract. If he signs with a new team less than 7m, the Avs really screwed up

me three. Much rather have a hungry, young ROR than an over-paid, old, under-(playoff) performing Nash the Slash in the line-up.

I see avs fans on other boards saying the bidding will START with zadorov and 21. The market is what it is. If thats where the bidding starts, i wont be disappointed if we don't get a young star.

Because people still have a hard time accepting what a good player is in Buffalo.

Nash also was 2nd on the Rangers in playoff scoring and scored 42 goals in the regular season. The Vanek comparisons need to stop

Vanek was also the Sabres leading scoring in the playoffs post Briere/Drury

If we are moving Moulson and a pick for Nash I am all for it

I am not sending Ennis 21 and 31 plus a prospect for him though

Eichel measured 7.1% body fat and had the top result of all participants in 5 of the tests. His 26.18 vertical jump was scary good.

It's even more redicioulous that he wanted Joe Thornton or Patrick Marleau over him. Older, almost as expensive, and have accomplished nothing in the playoffs during a longer period of time.

Why would they take Moulson? Maybe it's just ennis, 21 and 31. If people think that's too much for a proven 40 goal scorer, you're nuts.

It is too much for a team that is in the rebuilding stage. Adding a 31 year old whose production will be dropping when it comes time to really compete is crazy if you're trading Ennis (who is going to break out big this year 60 points at least IMO) and basically 2 first round picks.

If they were ready to win this year then I would be all for it but don't make trades for the sake of making trades. Murray is thinking long term and he should be.

They are going to need to shed cap space. A Moulson and a first swap for Nash is also a $3 million savings to the Rangers.

The sabres are trying to move out of rebuilding, picks at this point can be moved. Their main core is so young. Ennis is going on 26 this year and has only had career highs in the 40s.
I know you pay attention to the draft. I would stay statistical one of those two players at those picks would develop into something. It really isn't much, and I think it gets the Rangers listening.

6 year age difference. $3 million cap hit difference. Not to mention Nash's contract goes until he is 35.

The Sabres just finished their tear down. Now they are rebuilding. Why move assets to acquire a player that won't be here to help the team when they are ready? Ennis in 3 years will be more valuable to the Sabres than Nash would be in 3 years.

what was the remark, oil fan?

Murr went public saying how disappointed he was and for his fans that they ended up #2 and lost out on McD. Doesn't exactly make Jack feel that great. Brutal thing to say. Stupid thing to say.
