I don't think Sharp or Bickell get close to this

100% agree.

When every other GM in the league knows you are in jail with little chance for parole regarding your cap, they are going to make trade offers that take full advantage of that situation to their own individual benefits.

GM's don't believe in benevolence when it comes to building the best team they can in order to both retain their jobs and win the cup.

That would be true if only 1 team would be calling about these players, but it's not. Being that Chicago is in cap trouble, there will be at least a handful of teams calling about different guys in the organization. It's all about supply and demand.

Am I the only one that would really NOT want to overpay for the high price of Eddie Lack and rather get Markstrom???

I still think Markstrom has a high upside and would love to see a 50/50 almost split between him and a vet like Lindback or Neuvirth back here... poop.. maybe even Enroth on a short term deal (no pun intended).

It is clear that Couver has ZERO trust in Miller after the shelling he took this season and in the playoffs. They know they can't move him or his contract.

Neuvirth is the same damn goalie.

I think the point is that Neuvirth doesn't need to be traded for. But, they would have to convince him to come back, and based on some of his comments after he got traded, I'm not so sure he would.

That is true. Though Lack fits into Murray's goalie "type" if you will. He's 6'4" compared to Neuvirth, who's 6'1"

I thought I heard that both Lindback and Enroth said positive things about Buffalo and the potential of signing back here in UFA?

Neuvirth.. I am fine with not coming back honestly. Never really followed him as being anything more than a 2B goalie.

Well then that makes 6'7 Lindback the man, the myth, and the legend for Murray's goalie type!?!?!?! lol

If you want to get technical, yes. He's actually the youngest (May) of the 3 of them as well. They all were born the same year with Lack being the oldest (January), Neuvirth in the middle (March).

Neuvirth had a much better season than Enroth.

I think Mantha has had a two fold problem this year. He broke his leg in September and missed almost two months, which he and everyone else admitted made his transition hard. I think he also is trying to learn to play in a more defensively responsible system, which he is also adjusting to. As disappointing as his season was, he was better in the second half of the season and has netted a few important goals in the playoffs. I do think his "untouchable" status is gone, but I don't think the Wings plan on trading for a D that is "NHL ready" as opposed to a more established D. The Wings have Marchenko, Ouellete, Jensen, and Sproul. I think they plan on using one of those players to work into the system as opposed to trading for another one. Again, not trying to downplay your player's value, but the fit doesn't seem right.

If I remember right he is making like 8M for the next 6 years.

Didn't he just have a heart problem too or something life threatening?

I would be OK with signing lindback. We're definitely not going to get in a bidding war with any one over him and if he starts to blow it, we just waive him. This would probably be his last contract in the NHL if he performs like he did on other teams. Put the opportunity in front of him and see what he does!

Based on his comments after the season concluded, it sounded like Lindback was interested in coming back. I wouldn't mind signing him to a 1 year contract. Like you said, if it doesn't work they can waive him and you can always call up Makarov.

My hope is either Lack or Talbot as the other.

Lindback is a goalie that needs to play all the time. When he backed up Rinne, Rinne came out and said that Lindback is ready but is the goalie that needs to net every game to get his full potential out of him.

Ideally, I'd like to see him backed up by a vet towards the end of his career that doesn't mind only getting 10 or 12 games a season. No idea who that would be. The danger is that Lindback had a lucky stretch last year with us and returns to "worst goalie in the league" form.
If he keeps playing like he did with us, he may end up playing in this league longer.

That would certainly be up to Bylsma on how to play him and I'm not sure he would get that chance, especially if they get a #1. They just might like Makarov in that back up role.

He was the starter for Tampa and had a rough time as well. But there is definitely a lot of truth to him needing the bulk of the games. There's a lot of guys like that. It's why the goalie by committee concept will never be as successful as a lot of people think. That situation makes it tough for both guys.

I would think that, if Irbe is retained, he'll have a lot of say in who they go after, especially if it's a guy who was already here.

I would agree, and considering his history with Neuvirth, both here and also in Washington, he might come back.

If I were a betting man, that's one bet I'd stay away from, as to who the next goalie of the Sabres is.

Could go in many directions.

I'm thinking a trade involving NHL ready Dman for Mantha can't happen with Bylsma just freshly hired.

We read (reed) that Bylsma focuses on the ability of the D to disposses the opponent, and drive play the other way into the offensive zone, and it seems a sound and complete D will be his first priority.

I know we need talent on the wing, but while Bylsma's still in his honeymoon period, I would imagine he has asked Murray to use picks and offensive prospects to barter with, and I bet Murray tries to work with him for some while in that regard.
