I played for the Echelon Express. We were the #1 ranked Junior Olympic team in the late 90s for 2 years. We played pretty much every division, Narch (where we had some tough times) and Torhs. When they switched from the liquid-filled ball to the Teflon-padded puck, we weren't quite as good.

We played out of Echelon in Voorhess, NJ. At one point, our men's teams were 1 and 2 ranked in the world and basically won Nationals every year (they played out of Deptford as kids). Then our coach went in on an arena in Runnemede called Mega Sports, got involved with this shady guy to get the arena done, and things just got bad until I finally left the team at 17.

Got 2nd in Detroit for Narch. Played in Piha for a couple teams. Lunatics, Nasty Boyz, Typhoon. The Lunatics was pretty much the guys from Web Warriors in PBH. that was all filmed within 3 weeks.

My son played NARCH as a bantam out of Downingtown. We could never get past Marple in the playoffs.

I played with the NJ Riot our of Skater's Choice in Sewell for a year and a half in MLRH (full ice-hockey rules roller). At 5'8 and 145 lb playing against guys who'd been drafted by NHL teams, I was way out of my league. Played maybe 6-7 games, scored one goal and was a below-average defender.

I don't know about Bantam, but Marple had a team called the Gladiators in MLRH in the early-00's. Those guys were big, fast, tough, and downright mean. We ended up getting suspended by the league for protesting a game against them.

I played with some of the Gladiator guys and also against some. I stopped playing roller just because I could do the travel anymore and have a family now. Also some of those annoying young kids now just need a good ass beating. It's all one on one with everyone trying to toe drag.

I actually have been playing some old school ball hockey. When I moved to were I am a girl on my daughters soccer team told her dad I played so he got me on a team and met others that kept asking me to play. It's fun just to keep competitive and played some tournaments in featerville and OCMD and pittsburgh

I got a soccer scholarship so I had to give up ice hockey in high school when I signed. I did roller as something to do in the offseason because they didn't feel I would be risking so much since it is non-contact.

Don't think I did. I once played a tournament in some place that was like a multi-sport facility than had 2 big concrete rinks. They were nice, but it was weird. The rinks were close to the windows, so you'd get some glare, and it was just weird. Also, the old Deptford rink had a square corner (as well as a good foot or 2 of warped wood) which was always interesting.

Best I ever did was, as a 15-year-old, my 15/16 team played in a men's division. We beat every team pretty well, except for one team that usually beat us (and every other team) badly. We played them in the championship and lost 3-2 in a shootout. I had a Gretzky assist: chipped it over the net from behind to a teammate. Only time it ever worked.

When I was a kid, roller hockey was quad skates with metal wheels in the street. Inline skates were those "new kind of skates" advertised way in the back of hockey magazines.

There are. We had this guy Anthony Amato on my team and he was flat-out amazing. Never played ice, sadly. Then he started doing lots of drugs and I just assume he's no longer playing.

It was even worse for me, all I could do was play street hockey. Though we had two really nice rinks and the city where I grew up had a pretty involved league for kids 6-14.

After that we played unofficial adult leagues sponsored by local businesses. It was fun and pretty brutal. The league folded after too many players fought refs we were paying out of our own pockets because the players were bumholes.

Haha, when I started playing (around 93-94) inlines were the craze. There was 1 guy on "old" quads. He couldn't turn as well, but when it came to stopping and starting, no one could touch him.
