Honestly I've never heard of the church banning someone from being a godparent. Must be an American thing.

i am the godfather to two of my nephews and i haven't been in a church since the day i was married.

pretty sure it is just a crims thing.

yes. all they cared about was whether i was baptized Catholic and did the rest of the milestone bullpoop.

i spent 8 years at that school (followed by 4 years of catholic high school), was a goddamn alter boy and my first job was working (getting molested) a few nights a week at the rectory!!!!

this is bullpoop

maybe the parish where the kid is getting baptized will approve me, but this is ridiculous

i dont know man my sister isnt even religious, the whole thing is a sham so she can cover all the bases and not feel responsible if hell actually exists and the kid gets sent there because she's not baptized
